The USAF gift history in Superior, Colorado goes back to the late 1940s when the United States Air Force opened its first base in that town. The Base was initially called Castle AFB and functioned as a training ground for pilots and aircrew. It was during this time that the USAF began purchasing land in the area and built an airstrip on what is now known as Beckwith Mesa. From this new location, the USAF conducted bombing raids against Japan from Wake Island in December of 1941 until September of 1944. With World War II coming to an end, the USAAF decided it was time to move into a new era and build an airplane manufacturing plant. The Consolidated Aircraft corporation were contracted to design a new bomber, which would be known as the B-29 Superfortress. This plane would become one of America's most successful airplanes and play a major role in both World Wars. In 1946, Castle AFB was sold to Boeing who continued using it for training purposes until it closed in 1963. After Castle AFB closed, many aircraft were stored at Moffat Field east of Denver before they were auctioned off and moved to Superior AB where they currently stand today. During its time at Superior AB, Boeing constructed two hangars which still stand today; one is used as a museum while the other serves as barracks for military aviation students attending nearby Rocky Mountain Arsenal School of Art & Design (RMASAD). Today, all those aircraft from Castle AFB are preserved here at Superior AB with occasional flyovers by local airlines for tourists or school groups interested in flyinglestheir first airplane ever!

The Colorado Air National Guard's 4th Security Forces Squadron is the largest subordinate unit of the Air Force Civilian Support Command, responsible for providing air policing and defense activities throughout the Rocky Mountain region. The squadron was founded on 1 October 1947 as a reconnaissance squadron equipped with Lockheed P-3C Orion aircraft. It became an air force unit in 1951 and began operations from RAF Mildenhall, England. On 10 October 1957, 4 SFS redesignated as the "4th Security Forces Squadron (Aircrew)" and activated at Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs. The squadron flew F-104 Starfighters until 1992 when it transitioned to the Boeing 747 for missions within NATO airspace. In 2006, the squadron moved to Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLC) in Tacoma Washington and has been flying Boeing 787 Dreamliners since then. As part of United States Air Force Global Strike Command (USAF GSC), 4 SFS is one of only two global strike squadrons assigned to USAF global strike command headquarters located outside of Washington D.C.. In 2013, General Dynamics Electric Aviation Systems was awarded a $226 million contract by Air Combat Command to provide new KC-135 Stratotankers for use by 4 SFS Squadron under Project Maven IIb during Operation Neptune Spear airstrikes against ISIL targets in Iraq and Syria....

The Air Force gift history starts in the early 1940s when the Air Force was created as a separate service within the United States. The first air force gifts were given to members of the Army and Navy, but it was not until 1941 that the Air Force received its own set of gifts from President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The president presented General Curtis LeMay with a gift certificate for 1 million dollars for his new bomber program, and LeMay donated this amount to help finance the war effort. In 1945, General George C. Marshall was given a set of medals by President Harry S. Truman in recognition of his work during World War II. These medals represented an increase in distinction for generals who had served in combat against Nazi Germany and Japan.
Superior, Colorado is a small town located in the southeastern corner of Colorado. The townsite was patented on November 16, 1868, by George Washington Custer and James Bowie. On July 10, 1889, the name was changed to Superior after being chosen by local residents for its "fine location and excellent prospects." The town began as a farming community with a population of around 100 people in 1872. By 1907, Superior had become an important junction of mail routes between Denver and Pueblo. In 1912, Superior became the site of the first Western National Bank in the United States. In 1928-29, $1 million was invested in three new dams on the North Fork Little River which formed the basis for what is now known as Lakewood Ranch. This project led to increased production at nearby factories such as Ford Motor Company and General Electric. In 1957-58, Superior voters passed a resolution recognizing October 1st as America's birthday. The celebration has been held annually since then to promote tourism in the town. In recent years there have also been efforts to increase economic development within Superior through initiatives such as an art museum and downtown revitalization projects
The town of Superior, Colorado was founded in 1875 by John J. Sykes and his brother-in-law, George P. Haskell. The town became a mining community due to the mineral wealth found near its location. The population of Superior grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s, reaching over 1,000 residents by 1912. Many of these residents came from eastern Massachusetts and New York City. The town's growth slowed in the mid-20th century as mining stopped operations and the economy declined. In recent years, however, there has been a resurgence in activity at the local mine and other businesses in Superior.
