Superior, Colorado is a small town in Weld County, Colorado. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood Metropolitan Statistical Area. Superior is located about an hour's drive from the city of Denver. The first settlers to live on what is now Superior were Jean Baptiste Lamar and his family in 1868. They founded a log cabin on the site of present day Superior High School. In 1871, John Wesley Hardin arrived with his family and built a log cabin near the corner of east First Street and south Third Avenue. This was the first permanent settler in Superior. In 1893, Wm Henson set up shop as a general store northeast of present day Superior High School on east Second Street. He became one of the most successful merchants in town during this time period and continued to operate his store until his death in 1916. In 1915, Calvin Coolidge established "The Daily Sentinel" newspaper which served as the primary source for local news for many years before it went out of business in 1982. In 1954, Sperry Rand Corporation moved its headquarters from Kansas City, Missouri toDenver when that city became home to Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML). At RML's inception there were only two buildings: one laboratory building on 15th Street between Blake Boulevard and 17th Avenue and another building at 14th and Arapahoe Streets across from Stapleton Elementary School – both used by RML's research staff for storage purposes only! Today those two buildings house nearly 100 laboratories belonging to over 50 different universities worldwide! Hugh Jansen opened The Hardware Store in 1957 which grew into what it today boasts as one of America’s leading hardware stores with more than 12 locations across 8 states! During its early years Jansen sold primarily farm items but eventually branched out into sells such items as cars radios appliances etc., becoming known throughoutmoderately large cities all over North America for its wide variety inventory including something for everyone!Jansen passed away unexpectedly at age 74 on October 10th 2018 after spending many years illness free; he will be deeply missed!

Superior is a small town in Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Westminster, Colorado micropolitan area. Superior was founded in 1876 by settlers from Iowa and Minnesota. The first post office in Superior opened on November 14, 1876. The present courthouse was built in 1908 and replaced an earlier structure that burned down in 1903. In 1936, the United States Post Office Administration moved from Denver to Superior due to population growth within the town limits. The community has experienced many changes over its history including a move to dry farming during Prohibition; a period of high-speed rail development which led to the construction of several hotels and restaurants; and most recently, an influx of people who have worked in the oil and gas industry. Today, Superior retains much of its pioneer spirit with a wide variety of shops and businesses catering to both local residents and visitors alike.
The towns of Superior and Gunnison were founded in 1867 by citizens of the nearby towns of Clear Creek and Pueblo. The early settlers in these communities were men who had been attracted to the Gorge area by its scenic beauty, abundant water resources, and close proximity to other settlements. The two towns grew rapidly, thanks in part to the railroad that was being built through the region. By 1870, both towns had a population of around 100 people. In 1879, Superior became the county seat for Weld County. This change came as a result of an act passed by the Colorado General Assembly which gave county seats to all of Colorado’s counties except Mesa County, which was then located in Utah. Gunnison also became the county seat for Weld County in 1879. In 1902, Superior formed a city government with a mayor and five City Council members. In 1911, it again became its own town when it annexed into Gunnison. In 1977, Gunnison merged with neighboring Pueblo to form one large city called Denver .
