The United States Army Garrison at Superior, Colorado was first organized on November 1, 1864. The garrison was initially composed of two companies of the 7th Colorado Infantry Regiment. It was redesignated as the 5th U.S. Artillery Garrison on October 1, 1865 and then the 10th U.S. Artillery Garrison on September 3rd, 1868. It was redesignated as the 5th Infantry Brigade in 1893 and then the 15th Infantry Brigade in 1907-1909 before becoming part of Division XVII (Army) in 1933 and then Division XVI (Airmobile) in 1941. On July 16, 1945, Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 10th U.S. Artillery Garrison were redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion (HHCB) of the 25th Infantry Division which had been activated at Fort Carson National Monument adjacent to Denver Airport just prior to World War II ending hostilities with Japan On December 12, 1948 HHCB became a parent battalion within 2nd company headquarters element within 25TH Ia Field Artillery Brigade effective January 1951 On October 17, 1950 elements from 4/27ths Cav Rifles demobilized at Fort Sill Oklahoma Territory while stationed there until May 1951 when they were mustered out under honorable discharge status under General Order No QM 11 dated Separate date ______ Upper divisions staff Detachment A here arrived on______
Superior, Colorado is a town in Routt County, Colorado, United States. The population was 1,635 at the 2010 census. It is part of theDenver-Aurora-Lakewood Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Superior" was given to the town by James A. Superior from his land grant in 1876. The first post office was established in 1870 and it served as the seat of Routt County until 1893. The first real school district was organized in 1896 and Superior School District No. 2 received its charter from the Colorado General Assembly on November 4, 1896. In 1907 an act to annex neighboring towns of Aspen and Golden became effective and Superior annexed those towns on November 12 that year giving its present area including both had 1,600 residents total with Aspen having a population of 827 while Golden had a population of 592 people when it annexation became effective but both numbers have since grown to over 2,000 people as new development has taken place within this borders making these two municipalities completely separate entities with their own police departments (Aspen operates out of Westminster while Golden operates out of Lakewood) but still share an airport/strip mall/hospital complex (Superior Airport). The town has seen some growth over recent years with plans for further annexation located eastward into Jefferson County which would bring its current population up to 3,500 people making it one of the fastest growing towns in Colorado according to Forbes Magazine magazine who named it one of their "10 Great Upscale Towns To Live In" back in 2009 making this even more impressive given that most residents are not professional or tech workers but rather stay close to home raising families or working day jobs just outside the doorsteps providing services such as groceries and transportation once again underscoring how important it is for a small community like Superior not only to maintain its level Of prosperity but also continue expanding outward into surrounding counties ensuring continued stability and growth over time
