This car is currently displayed at Ford Motor Company Headquarters in Dearborn Michigan where it has been used for ceremonies and media events since 1957

Superior, Colorado is a small town in the San Miguel County area of Colorado. The population was 2,842 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit Superior was Juan Rodriguez de Montoya on July 20, 1578. He named it "Mountain Meadows" after his daughter's home in Mexico City. A post office was established at Superior on October 8, 1868. The first settler in what is now Superior was John Fenton who arrived in 1871 and platted the town on land that he had acquired from the Canadian government for $5 per acre (1/4 mile). In 1904, a school superintendent reported that "Superior has about fifty children between 5 and 17 years old." In 1907–1908 an Irish immigrant named John McDonnell built a log cabin near present day Loveland as his winter home while he prospected for coal in this area. By 1909 there were nine dwellings and two stores in Superior with a population of seventy-eight people. In 1912 an east-west street connection across the Union Pacific Railroad line was completed making life much easier for residents east of Loveland and west of Aspen which totaled 263 residents when complete. That same year Coloradan miner George Hutton discovered gold near present day Keystone Lake while working at Santa Fe Springs mine nearby so by 1914 this community had grown to 1,000 people living primarily around mines and shops along Wylie Avenue (later Utopia Boulevard) Some 400 men worked 24 hours a day 7 days a week at three mines during 1915 when production reached 4 million pounds sterling worth $2 million dollars! In 1916 local entrepreneur Elisha Root organized what would become known as "The Mining Company" which became one of America's largest mining companies with operations located throughout western Colorado including Superior; Pueblo; Telluride; Glen Ellen; Arvada; Leadville; Trinidad; Eldorado Canyon National Monument}; Durango;; Arapaho National Forest}. The company produced over 99% of all gold mined outside California during its heyday! During World War I American troops were stationed here helping keep control over railroads needed for munitions manufacturing However soon enough most areas were returned to normalcy as war efforts shifted attention away from central Colorado Withdrawal began but not before many jobs had been created including some 500 workers employed at Keystone Lake During Prohibition more than 100 liquor vessels sailed through Central Valley on their way to Superior giving us the nickname "Shipyard Town". Prior to prohibition many men went into agriculture or other businesses such as lumbering or real estate but once prohibition ended those industries closed too leaving just 25 jobs open between 1923 and 1933 Although we lost our shipyards those industries still provide employment today both within our town limits (building materials) as well as adjacent towns like Aspen where boat building processes are implemented

It became an incorporated municipality in 1907 and was renamed Superior in 1914. In 1962, the eastern edge of Superior went through a land acquisition program which brought about the creation of the Park Service's Superfund Site near Superior. The Superfund site contains over two million artifacts from around the world that have been contaminated with hazardous materials including lead and arsenic. The Superior Mining District was located in central Colorado and encompassed an area that extended from the Rocky Mountains to the Gulf of Mexico. It began with small gold discoveries in 1859, but it wasn't until 1865 when a big find was made at Superior Gulch. This led to increased exploration and development in this part of the state, which eventually yielded rich amounts of gold and silver. The mining industry continued to grow throughout the 20th century, and by 1960 there were over 100 mines operating in the district. Today, Superior is still a major producer of both gold and silver ore.
