In 1916, local businessmen formed the Bradley Manufacturing Company to produce gasoline tanks for World War I troops. The company grew quickly and produced over one million gallons of gasoline from 1916 through 1918. The company closed its doors during World War II but reopened several times afterwards under different names including Bradley Tank & Auto Corp., Bradley Automotive Corporation, & Bradley Manufacturing Company (now Titan Automotive). Today, Titan produces trucks and SUVs as well as manufacturing parts for other businesses throughout Weld County using state-of-the-art facilities complete with 3D printing capabilities

In 1988, Thornton merged with neighboring unincorporated towns of La Junta and Cripple Creek to form what is now known as Fort Collins-Thornton-Cripple Creek County.
