The Thornton National Guard was organized on December 8, 1907. The first unit was the 12th Infantry Regiment. The National Guard was originally a part of the United States Military Forces and served as an infantry regiment until it became a motorized brigade on October 15, 1912. It then became a division on November 1, 1916 and finally became a corps effective January 17, 1947. In 1947, the National Guard was reorganized into three brigades and six divisions with headquarters in Denver. The brigades were disbanded in 1957 and all members of the National Guard were absorbed into Army Reserve units at that time. On July 4, 1959, the Colorado Springs-Aurora Joint Chiefs of Staff issued Directive 5100 which provided for the activation of military police units within state militias to supplement law enforcement activities during anti-communist demonstrations outside federal buildings in Colorado Springs and Aurora. These military police units would be known as "National Guardsmen" or simply "Guard". The first group of Guard soldiers arrived in Aurora on September 10th 1959 under Lieutenant Colonel Harry Laughlin with orders to support local law enforcement officials during anti-communist demonstrations outside federal buildings. Initially these troops consisted only of civilians hired by local businesses to augment their forces while they awaited further orders from higher up; however this soon changed when it was learned that additional Guardsmen had been ordered to deploy statewide should communism take hold in any area within Colorado Springs or Aurora itself. On October 15th 1959 Captain John Fagan's 3rd Battalion (3rd Infantry Regiment) reported for duty at Civic Center Park just south of downtown Aurora following instructions from LtCol Laughlin that all Guardsmen available for deployment should report there immediately upon mobilization order release from their barracks training locations across town at 12:00pm sharp! This event marked not only the formal activation of the National Guard but also its broad dispersal throughout Boulder County! By November 30th 1959 over 1000 Guardsman had mobilized statewide! At this point commanders began issuing battalion specific directives authorizing special operations such as coup d'etat type missions inside communist controlled areas beyond what could be accomplished through regular patrols or militia activity alone! Colorado Springs saw heavy gun fire from both sides during peaceful protests between students and government workers beginning on Oct 16 1960; later that night two people were killed when shots were fired from an unknown source near Civic Center Park in response to protesters presence There has never been an official answer as to who pulled trigger those two killings however suspicion fell squarely with communists!!!!!!

Thornton is a small town in Colorado, located about an hour outside of Denver. The population was 9,711 at the 2010 census. The first settlement in what is now Thornton was made by fur traders in the late 18th century. The name "Thornton" may be derived from one of these traders, James Thornton, who discovered gold near the site in 1859. The early residents were farmers who grew corn and other vegetables on their properties. The town was incorporated in 1903. In 1907, it became the home of Rocky Mountain Laboratories (now Monsanto), one of Colorado's largest employer companies. After World War II, Thornton experienced rapid growth as a result of its role as a munitions plant and post-war boom period economy. However, this growth came to a halt during the economic recession of 2008-2009. Today, Thornton remains an important regional center with strong industries that support local communities and jobs
The National Guard has a rich history that dates back to the Revolutionary War. The first national guard regiment was organized in 1775, and served in the Continental Army under General George Washington. In 1861, when Confederate forces invaded New York City, the New York National Guard helped defend the city and resisted Confederate attacks. Through the years, the National Guard has been used as a reserve force for various purposes, including peacekeeping efforts in Latin America; fighting wildfires; and providing security for events such as presidential inaugurations and Super Bowls. Today, there are over 1 million active duty members of the National Guard in 50 states and D.C., along with many Reserve Units who serve on call or mobilization basis. The guard’s mission is twofold: to provide law enforcement services while promoting patriotism and community service; and support military operations by providing logistical support. The origins of the modern national guard can be traced back to militias formed during crises such as Reconstruction following Reconstructionism in America (1865-77). Militia advocates argued that standing armies would never be able to adequately deal with Northern violence because they were too large and well-armed. They also claimed that an militia could quickly mobilize citizens from rural areas if needed, which would prevent revolutionary violence from spreading into those areas. This argument won out over time, as militias developed into full-fledged armies during World War II when both government organizations (the Department of Defense) and private companies became involved in supplying soldiers and materiel for war effort (see Japanese American internment camps). In 1945 however, Congress passed a law giving all Americans rights to arm themselves “for self-defense within this country against any form of domestic assault” – meaning now anyone can own a gun without registration or waiting periods! This gave rise to 2nd amendment civil rights activism throughout much of the 20th century!

Thornton was founded in 1876 by Jesse Thornton, a rancher and businessman. The town grew rapidly after the discovery of oil in Greenwood County and the nearby towns of Fort Collins and Loveland. By 1916, Thornton had a population of 2,000 people. The town was incorporated on November 3, 1916. A mayor and three councilors were elected at-large with no wards. The first election held in 1918 resulted in an all-Republican Town Council. In 1924, Thornton joined the City of Fort Collins as a charter member. In 1932, Thornton voters approved a $5 million bond issue to build a new shopping mall and other amenities that would support the growth of the community. The mall was built and opened in 1935. Thornton experienced rapid economic growth during World War II due to its proximity to military installations around Denver and Colorado Springs. The war created jobs for local civilians as well as soldiers stationed at Thornton Air Force Base. In 1945,Thornton became home to the largest steel plant in Colorado when it was constructed near present-day Northglenn Boulevard/Colorado Avenue/South Lamar Road. The plant produced tanks, planes, trucks and other vehicles for American troops fighting in World War II
The Thornton brothers, John and Jesse, founded the town of Thornton in 1876. The town was named for two brothers who had come to Colorado from Illinois. The first post office was established in 1877 and became known as Thornton Station. The Thornton Bros. ran a grocery store and hardware store in town until the early 1920s when they sold their business to the United States Post Office Company. The shop continued to be operated by the United States Postal Service until 1951 when it was closed down due to budget cuts within the Post Office Department. Thornton is located at (39.859611, -104.979565). It has a population of around 100 people today, making it an agricultural community with a small amount of retail shopping available outside of its limited services sector.
