The town of Windsor was first settled mainly by Anglo settlers who came from the United States during the late 1800s looking for land to build railroads on. Many local businesses operated out of storefronts located near where Main Street intersected Fifth Avenue SE. By 1923, most of these businesses had closed because of advancements in transportation that made it possible for people to travel anywhere within minutes without having to leave their homes or townsfolk2 3 4 .
