The Connecticut Naval Militia was organized on December 11, 1775, by the General Court of Connecticut as an arm of the state government for the purpose of providing defense against British forces. The first naval ship to be commissioned in the militia was USS Ansonia (Ldr. John Cushing) on December 29, 1775. The navy played a major role in American independence and were responsible for defending New England from British aggression. In 1815, Commodore David Dixon Porter ordered HMS Beagle II to explore South America and report back to London with valuable data about that region’s flora and fauna. This led to the formation of United States Brazil Squadron under Commodore Porter which sailed from New York City in February 1816 carrying Brazilian scientists Manuel Rodrigues da Costa e Silva, José de Sousa Coutinho e Silva, Admiral Francisco Teixeira de Mello Filho,and Colonel João Gomes Neto along with stores and supplies. They explored various parts of South America for six months before returning home on February 28th with three ships loaded with scientific equipment including a botanical garden at Salvador da Bahia where they prepared plants for shipment back to North America. The navy played an important role during the Civil War era as well. USS Constitution (Cdr. James Caldwell) was instrumental in rescuing American seamen who had been taken hostage by Confederate forces off blockade runners off Texas coast in 1865. Similarly USS Monitor (Cdr.) assisted CSS Alabama when she ran into trouble near Mobile Bay duringthe Battle of Mobile Bay on April 14th 1861; this led directly to Confederate defeat that day.]] USS Ansonia is credited with being one of the first warships ever built complete without any cannons or other weapons system except for their own sails!. Ansonia, Connecticut is a small town in the towns of Ansonia and Derby on the eastern edge of Long Island. The population was 6,517 at the 2010 census. It is part of the New York–New England metropolitan area. The town was first settled by English colonists in 1634. In 1713, it became a part of Connecticut Colony. In 1814, it became an independent township and was renamed Ansonia after its founder, Ansonius Knowles. The name stuck and the town has since growth to its current size. The center of town is home to two banks (the First National Bank and Quinnipiac University), a post office (opened in 1855), three churches (All Saints Episcopal Church, St. Nicholas Greek OrthodoxChurch, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish) as well as multiple factories including one that produces cheese for Yale University's student government and one that makes T-shirts for Sears Roebuck & Co.. Samuel Anson had emigrated from London during the height of the Pilgrims' landing campaign when many others had followed him because Plymouth Plantation seemed like an excellent opportunity for land ownership given its location adjacent to Narragansett Bay - this grant increased his chances for success because it demonstrated that he was not just 'a gatherer of men'. He founded what would become known as Ansonia due to his deed dated April 9th 1672 founding residence being "an hundred yards southwesterly off shore". [2] Although most residents today adhere to English culture both through daily routines such as eating breakfast outside or speaking French among themselves when out dining rather thanSpeaking Spanish like their ancestors did back then,[3][4] they do have some Hispanic ancestry through their mother's side who immigrated here en masse along with her husband José Antonio Sánchez de la Vega y Luna circa 1850 although much less visibly so today than they did back then

Ansonia, Connecticut is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut. The population was 16,032 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from Ansonia River and its location on the border of Hartford County and Windsor County. The first permanent settler in what is now Ansonia was Nicholas Easton who arrived in 1755. He erected a sawmill on the current site of Ansonia Lake in 1758. In 1824, Ansonia became part ofHartford County when it was organized from parts of Middlesex and Hartford Counties. The first store in Ansonia was built by Captain John Rowe in 1814. It had a Store House which still stands today as an example of early commercial architecture in that area. In 1827, Anthony Boucher opened his bakery on Main Street near present-day School Street and continued to operate it until 1895 when he sold it to Haverhill Cement Company Limited Partnership w/ Samuel Fenton & others for $2,500 cash only! This event marked the start of small businesses being established throughout Ansonia including many that would remain active until well into the 21st century such as Piggly Wiggly Supermarket (now Kroger), Naugatuck Savings Bank (now Citizens Bank) and First National Bank (now JP Morgan Chase). During World War II, many residents worked at local military plants manufacturing munitions or providing other services related to war production; especially during materials shortages caused by the war itself. One such plant was located just north of town along I-95 between exits 9A and 9B known as "Naval Arsenal" due to its important role during World War II. After hostilities ended, many jobs were lost after companies left because there were no new supplies coming intotown from outside suppliers available for purchase; leading some people to call NAFTA "Ansonia's Lost Generation". However, since most jobs never went away completely and some new ones began developing once again following re-opening efforts by local businesses there has been recent growth associated with this community since then dubbed "Ansonian revival". As mentioned earlier one popular restaurant within walking distance OFHTC is Piggly Wiggly Supermarket which has been open since 1954! Recently they have opened up a second store adjacent to Hillsdale Mall! Another popular restaurant nearby closed down but reopened under different ownership less than 4 miles away called The Boiled Dog which served up Americanized Chinese food until they moved out last year while also having a bar inside their former location - both locations are now open 24/7 operations! Finally another popular restaurant recently closed down but reopened under different ownership less than 4 miles away called Second Harvest which specializes mostly in farm-to-table cuisine with live music every night!
