The Naugatuck Air Force Base, located in central Connecticut, was founded on October 16, 1941. The base is home to the 106th Bomb Wing, which was activated on December 1, 1941. The wing served as the first bombardment squadron of the United States Air Force and is responsible for conducting nuclear attacks against Japan during World War II. In 1966, the wing relocated from Hennepin AFB to Naugatuck AFB and has remained here ever since. In 1962, a gift from the Government of Canada arrived at Naugatuck AFB. This gift was an airframe called CF-18 Hornet. The CF-18 Hornet is a Canadian jet fighter that has been used by both the United States Air Force and Canada’s military services for many years now. Today, the CF-18 Hornet remains a valuable asset to both countries and is used by both air forces worldwide.

Naugatuck, Connecticut's air force gift history can be traced back to World War I. In 1916, the Connecticut Air National Guard was organized and began serving in the war. The first gifts given to the Air National Guard were rifles, ammunition, and other supplies. However, it wasn't until 1918 that a Predatory Aircraft Carrier was donated by Naugatuck Mayor Harry P. Smith in memory of his father who had served in America's naval forces during World War I. In 1922, the first airplane hangar was built at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton Ohio in honor of Colonel Edward "Buzz" Aldrin Jr., an American aviator and co-founder of what is now NASA. After Colonel Aldrin's death in 1948, his wife Eleanor founded the Aldrin Foundation which continues to support aviation research and education across America. The United States Army Aviation Museum opened its doors on October 1st 1947 as one of only two military museums worldwide open to the public without charge! The museum features aircraft from both World Wars including a F4U Corsair from WWII II! It also has artifacts from various branches of service including artillery, armor and more! The museum is open every day except for Thanksgiving Day from 9am-5pm!
Naugatuck, Connecticut is a small town in Hartford County, Connecticut. The population was 7,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Hartford-Westchester-New Haven metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1796 by General Israel Putnam and his wife Judith Phelps. Naugatuck first appears on records in 1802 when it was granted a charter from the state of Connecticut. In 1810, it became a borough within Hartford County. In 1865, it became a village and then an incorporated town on December 12, 1966. On July 1, 2014, Naugatuck voted to become an independent city under the name of "Naugatuck City". The economy of Naugatuck is based largely on agriculture and manufacturing. The main industry is agriculture; there are also some small businesses in construction and service industries such as accounting and data entry services. Manufacturing has been declining since 2000 but still makes up about two-thirds of the economy with many jobs in transportation and materials procurement. There are also several small businesses that focus solely on environmental consulting or promoting green energy technologies
Air force gift history began in 1948 when the United States Air Force created the 1st Tactical Airlift Wing. The wing was designed to provide airlift for troops and supplies in time of war. From its inception, the wing was tasked with providing critical support to commanders on the ground. In 1956, the wing was redesignated as 2d Tactical Airlift Wing and activated at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. From there, it would fly cargo and passengers into battle across America. In 1990, 2d Tactical Airlift Wing transferred to MacDill Air Force Base, Fla., becoming 3d Tactical Airlift Wing. This transfer signaled a new era for airforce gift history as 3dTacticalWings became responsible for operating all USAF tactical wings throughout Southeast Asia and Southwest Asia during Operation Desert Shield/Storm in 1991-1992. During this time period, 3dTAC also flew humanitarian aid missions through partner countries to assist refugees after 9/11/01 terrorist attacks. On 15 October 2002, 3dTAC transferred from MacDill AFB to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBL) in New Jersey following an extensive renovation that included a new command post and indoor hangar facility as well as new Hangar A2 which served as homeport for both C-130 Hercules aircraft and KC-135 Stratotanker bombers. On 18 May 2006, 3dTAC moved permanently from JBL to Elmendorf AFB Annex (EFA) in Anchorage AK where it remains today as one of USAF's five operational tactical wings under the command of The Commander of U S Air Forces - Europe (USAF Eu).

Naugatuck, Connecticut was founded in 1664 by the Winthrop family. The town is located in southern Connecticut and is part of the Hartford-New Britain metropolitan area. In addition to its downtown district which contains a mix of commercial and residential areas as well as several museums and parks, Naugatuck also consists of numerous small villages scattered throughout the town. The history of Naugatuck can be traced back to when the first Europeans arrived in what is now Connecticut. One group of Native Americans known as the Wampanoag had settled in what is now southeastern New England about two centuries earlier. In 1664, English settlers named their new settlement after General John Winship who had helped defeat Spanish forces at Battle of Narragansett Bay on July 14th that year. At first glance, NaugatUCK may seem little different from other villages located throughout what is now southeastern Connecticut; however, some key elements unique to this community include its location within Hartford-New Britain metropolitan area which gave it early access to business opportunities as well as top-level education levels enjoyed by other communities within that region; moreover, while other towns in this area were slowly deteriorating due to lack of investment or neglect by their respective governing bodies (e.g., Norwich), Naugatinck saw an opportunity for growth when it entered into an agreement withHartford City Council providing for more than 1 million dollars in annual economic development funding The early years of Naughatchew's growth were not without struggles though. For one thing, although it was designated as part of Hartford City Limits until 1834 (!), transportation problems always led to increased tensions between the various municipalities within that boundaries – ultimately leading to open warfare between them all on multiple occasions including a physical altercation at Ford’s Ferry on October 12th 1775 which left four people dead Despite these challenges however, over time things changed for Naughatchew; specifically through gradual but steady annexation by neighboring municipalities until finally becoming fully annexed into Hartford City Limits following ratification by both local legislatures in 1892 Today’s skyline view looking eastward precludes any sense that life ever felt difficult or uncomfortable during these tough times Indeed images such as those captured here depict a bustling community enjoying basic needs such as food storage and heating while awaiting developments which would invariably improve their quality Of Life . This progressivism may have been most evident in Mayor Mitchell’s decision last year To name his entire bridge “Naughatchew Landing” after our beloved town namesake - further evidence that progress does not come easy .
