The Altamonte Springs Coast Guard Station was founded on May 15, 1947 by the County of Miami. The station is located in Altamonte Springs and is responsible for the enforcement of maritime law along theAltamonte River. The Coast Guard also provides support to local fire departments and law enforcement agencies as needed. Today, the Coast Guard Station has a complement of thirty-six officers and women who provide service to the community through their many duties including enforcing maritime law, providing public safety, assisting with emergency response efforts, conducting Search and Rescue missions, providing health services, monitoring water quality,andassisting with land management responsibilities. In addition to its important role in civic life, the Altamonte Springs Coast Guard Station offers residents access to a wide variety of recreational opportunities including fishing charters from our fleet of boats; boat ramps for launching vessels; beach access from Behringer Boulevard at Delray Beach Boulevard; jet skiing/skiing from Bothwell Road; golf courses in Indian Wells (Lemon Grove), Jupiter (West Hills), Kendall Park (Kendall Park), Miramar (Miramar Landing), North Palm Beach (North Palm Beach Pier), Pinellas Park (Pinellas Lakeshore Marina) and Saint Petersburg – Clearwater Bayou Preserve which offers boating and sailing privileges ashore as well as several kilometers of shoreline containing more than seventy private docks accommodating both pleasure craft and commercial vessels.

Altamonte Springs, Florida is an unincorporated community in Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. It is located on the eastern border of Palm Beach and its namesake springs are located within its boundaries. The population was 27,872 at the 2000 census. The Altamonte Springs area was first settled by Indians in 1795. A post office called Altamonte Springs was established in 1871, and remained in operation until 1949. The name comes from a Seminole word meaning "high water." In the early 1900s, a group of citrus growers built a farmstead north of present-day Altamonte Springs on what is now Long Lake Road. They were followed by other farmers and entrepreneurs who began to settle around them in the 1920s and 1930s. By 1950, there were over 60 families living in Altamonte Springs. Since the late 1990s, much development has occurred within Altamonte Springs's borders: new housing developments have been constructed near Interstate 4 (I-4), as well as shopping malls and movie theaters nearby;Altamonte Parkway has been widened and re-routed through the community;and several small businesses have opened up along its length. However, it remains an unassuming town with few external signs that anything major is happening hereabouts - except for occasional visitors who stop by to take a look at some of the more popular attractions close by or take advantage of some great deals available at local businesses that don't require internet access or face certain closure during off hours due to lack of customers or competition from larger stores nearby (eGtoberfest being one recent exception).

The 1974 introduction of Congressional Gold Medals program brought even more unique gifts such as guitars or boats built specifically for Capitol Hill functions or special occasions like becoming a Member of Congress! In 1970, Altamonte Springs merged with neighboring Parkland to form one large city with a combined population of over 10,000 people.
