Apopka, Florida is a town located in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Apopka was founded in 1868 by General William Tecumseh Sherman and his wife Julia Child as a small community on the edge of Indian Territory northwest of what is now Jacksonville.
