In 1887, America's first airmail service was established between Miami and Key West with flights taking place over both beaches each day! On November 15th that year, Atlantic Beach became an incorporated town! In 1925, it voted to become unincorporated again when it decided against joining either Broward County or Palm Beach County! As time passed though, more stores and businesses popped up along Withy Way making Atlantic Beach one of most vibrant communities in Broward County! In recent years there have been many redevelopment projects such as new housing developments on Bayfront Drive and several new restaurants have opened up around town including Gourdough's Pub & Grill (formerly The Keg), Bluegrass BBQ & Grille ( formerly The Pig Iron), Shotguns Sports Bar & Grill (formerly Hooters), Gin Fizz Lounge (formerly The Diner) - all helping to keep things hopping for residents of this beautiful community!
Atlantic Beach is located on the Atlantic Ocean and was first settled in 1795. The town was originally called "Beach Haven" and then "Beachtown." In 1884, it changed its name to "Atlantic Beach" and became a city in 1907.
