The first coffee shop in Atlantic Beach was founded in 1916 by Harry and Florence Herring. The shop served a small town with local farmers' markets until it closed its doors in the late 1940s. In 1949, the first espresso machine was bought at the Atlantic Beach Coffee Company. In 1975, the company began making iced coffee. It moved to its current location on State Road 8 mile south of downtown in 1984. Today, the company offers both pour-overs and espresso drinks. They also sell baked goods, pies, and pastries from their bakery on State Road 8 mile south of downtown.
Atlantic Beach is a small town in Brevard County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1887 by Captain James A. Johnston and his wife Eliza Bigham Johnston. Atlantic Beach is named for the Strait of Atlantics which separates North America from South America. The beach began to be developed as a resort community in the 1920s and 1930s when it became known for its year-round swimming, surfing, sailing, and fishing opportunities. In 1955, Atlantic Beach erected a lighthouse on Promenade Point on the main beachfront boulevard which remains an important tourist destination today. In 1962, Atlantic Beach became one of four communities located within Kissimmee city limits when it annexed portions of downtown Kissimmee from Sanford. In 2003, Atlantic Beach voted to become an incorporated town with its own police department and fire department under the leadership of Mayor Donny Lorenzetti. As per incorporation laws, this action required unanimous approval by all five townships within Brevard County that make up Atlantic Beach: Harbourtown Heights; Lighthouse Point; Pillars; Sandy Hook; and West Palm Harbor – giving residents more control over their community’s day-to-day operations than ever before. Hearkening back to its early days as a resort community with easy access to both water activities and shopping options through single carriageways full of beacheside hotels (now long gone), Atlantic Beaches has quickly become one of Orlando’s most popular vacation destinations thanks largely to itsfriendly locals who promote “the best party you will ever have” each summer nightfall when many Conventioneers descend on town for their annual meetups/fairs/festivals etc., followed by plenty of barbecues outdoors during those brief SUMMER months leading up to Christmas!

Atlantic Beach, Florida is a small town in Brevard County, Florida. The population was 7,617 at the 2010 census. It is located on the mouth of the Kissimmee River and is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Atlantic Beach were French sailors who built Fort Caroline in 1565. In 1614, English colonists landed at what is now Atlantic Beach and founded Stonington Plantation. In 1763, after a series of skirmishes between British and Spanish forces in what is now Miami-Dade County, Spain ceded control of Florida to Great Britain with an understanding that United States territory would be formed from land that never surrendered to Spain. In 1821, when Seminole Indians unsuccessfully attacked American settlers near present-day Sanford, Flagler County was organized from lands east of (then) Jacksonville; this included much of what are now Brevard and Polk Counties. A decade later Captain John Smith discovered natural gas reserves beneath the ocean floor at Jacob’s Well; within three years he had developed drillings that produced oil shale under his plantation – discoveries that started a major petroleum industry in Florida. In 1851, following dissolution of Florida’s territorial government as a result of US annexation by Mexico during Manifest Destiny era nationalism across America (the Mexican revolution hadPrioritized Texas), Brevard County became official when it merged with Volusia County (west of Gainesville). The following year saw construction begin on Palm Bay Race Course which would become one of America’s most important thoroughbred race tracks; it hosted international events including The Kentucky Derby and The Preakness Stakes over 100 times between 1861 and 1910 before being sold to Gulf Oil Company for $2 million in 1914. The original town site was on what today is downtown Atlantic Beach while parts offshore were used for saltpans and other industries until 1921 when they were combined with mainlandBrevard into one new municipality called “Brevard” effective January 1st 1921 which laterbecame “Orlando” due to its location within Orange county boundaries – less than two hours by train from Tampa International Airport! A planning referendum for redevelopment status for downtown area failed by just 2% but led to incorporation as an unincorporated community on October 14th 1951 – becoming one stop along then newly created US Highway 1 corridor running northeasterly from Daytona Beach all the way through Tallahassee/St Petersburg before turning easterly towards Jupiter/Lakeland/Winter Park – making it easily accessible both day & night! It wasn’t until 1959 when I-4 was constructed through central Brevard that things really began changing as business traffic increased & more people flocked into downtown areas seeking shopping opportunities / access to jobbers etc.; businesses quickly converted their storefronts into apartment buildings or light commercial development ensued with only some recalls thru out the years! Today exterior architecture reflects various waves throughout history including Art Deco / Moderne styles thruout much like many African American churches installed post World War II did also reflecting early 20th century social norms… these days you can actually find prewar homes still standing if you know where to look 😉 !!
On July 15, 1868, the first post office was established on Atlantic Beach. The name of the town changed to Ft. Lauderdale in 1898. The first professional ice skaters came to Ft. Lauderdale from New York City in 1927 and started skating on Broward Boulevard near Fort Lauderdale's old fort. In 1932, Broadway Market opened and became one of the most popular shopping areas in Florida with its wide variety of stores including department stores such as Macy's and Sears and small shops.
