Navy deployed gift history in Auburndale, Florida began with the USS Constitution (1865) on July 4, 1865. The ship was delivered to the city of Pensacola, Florida on October 10, 1865. On November 15, 1865, the ship arrived in Jacksonville, Florida and began its first deployment to Mobile Bay on December 3rd. During its stay at Mobile Bay, the Constitution took part in the Battle of Fort Morgan on December 6th. After its return home on January 9th 1866the Constitution sailed for Norfolk Naval Shipyard where it was decommissioned on February 12th and sold for scrap on March 21st 1866.
Auburndale is a small town in Escambia County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Pensacola–Ft. Walton Beach–Bainbridge City, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community was founded in 1892 by pioneer J.M. Auburndale and his wife Anna Mae Hardesty as a horse ranch and cattle farmstead on about three acres (1 hectare) of land southeast of Pensacola on the banks of the St Johns River. The original name for Auburndale was "Lumbee". In 1907, J.M.'s son-in-law Augustus Earle died suddenly and left an estate valued at $200,000 (equivalent to $ in ). His widow Anna Mae Hardesty donated the property to her husband's children with one condition: that they name it after their father-in-law's brother Augustus A., Jr., who had been killed in battle during World War I but had left all his assets to his sister Anna Maehardesty and her husband John Pemberton Hardesty Sr.. J.-M."Auburn" Auburndale renamed the community after himself and his mother-in-law on July 4th, 1912 when he moved into what is now known as Old Town Square #2 which comprised most of what is now called Auburndale Square #3 . He also built Old Town Hall which still stands today across from Main Street . Over time other families contributed additional homes including notable developer Jerald Burch who purchased much of what remains today including most notably State Road 722 (now US Hwy 11), just east of central square #2 off State Road 517 south of town . From 1951 until 1978 it was part of Escambia County before becoming part of Tallahassee County . As with so many things within this tiny corner sliceof Florida life during those days there were no school buses or even cars so parents would take their children to school together on foot either early morning or late night ... At any given time you could count at least 10 different families living here... Parents would pull over near school just long enough for their kids to get off then pick them up again once they got home .... Today we enjoy some great amenities like internet service available through our cable company only minutes away thanks to a local business lease agreement we have with them

The town grew quickly, and by 1840 it had a population of 100 people. In 1850, the town had a population of 250 people. Auburndale was incorporated as a city in 1865. It experienced growth during the early 20th century, with an increase in population to 1,000 people by 1929. During World War II, Auburndale became one of the largest military installations on Florida's Gulf Coast. Auburndale's economy changed after the war, however, with a decrease in manufacturing and an increase in service sector jobs. In recent years, Auburndale has seen growth again due to its location within close proximity to Orlando and its easy access to education and economic opportunities
