It is hard to believe that it has been more than seventy years since the United States Air Force deployed a gift to Aventura, Florida. The first deployment of a USAF gift was in 1942, when the United StatesAAF gifted two fighter planes and four trainer planes to the Municipal Airport in Aventura. At that time, the airport was only one small strip of land near downtown Aventura. Today, Aventura’s municipally-owned airport is one of the busiest in South Florida and hosts over 120 flights per day. The USAF gift history in Aventura goes back even further. In 1927, General James Moxey ordered six P-51 Mustangs delivered to Key West for use by the USAAF as training aircraft for pilots then being commissioned into the military. The first RAF presence in south Florida began with twelve Spitfires from No 4 Squadron based at Miami Beach on 1 January 1928. From this initial RAF contribution, relationships grew quickly between both nations and over 100 RAF squadrons were stationed within Florida during World War II. Many thanks must go to RAF Volunteer Reserve Unit 302 (VLR302) which made many donations including crates of food and clothing for troops fighting on our behalf overseas. Aventura, Florida is a city located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 1,561 at the 2010 census. Aventura is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Miami-Dade County and also ranked as one of the top ten vacation towns in America. It has a rich history dating back to 1892 when Spanish missionaries founded an agricultural colony on the east side of what is now Aventura Boulevard. The town received its name from Don José de la Vega y Avila, who purchased land adjacent to today's Aventuras Golf Resort & Spa. In 1922, construction began on the first hotel in Miami-Dade County and by 1925, all seven hotels in town had been completed. By 1932, over $560 million had been invested in real estate development throughout Miami-Dade County and Aventura became known as "The City of Palm Beaches". The post office was established at present day First Street and Airport Boulevard on May 7th, 1928 and remained open until 1974 when it moved to its current location at Eighth Avenue near Dadeland Mall. During World War II many residents chose not to fight because they were drafted into military service or did not have enough money for food or rent. Many businesses closed due to lack of customers or competition from other local cities during that time period. However, following the war many people returned home and restarted their businesses including restaurants such as Del Frisco's which reopened after being closed for more than 20 years; Pabst Blue Ribbon which reopened after being shut down for six years; Atlantic Cablevision which reopening after being closed for more than 25 years; Coca Cola which reopened after being closed for more than 50 years; Sunoco who reopened after being closed for 15 years; GAFE which reopened after being closed since 1951 One of the earliest examples of tourism here was golfing with courses like Wynn Park Golf Course opened in 1927 while others like Hialeah Beach Club opened later that year Some notable events that took place during this time include: The first general election held under free voting rules here (1932) where only men could vote There was also an American Football game played between Miami Dolphins vs New York Giants on October 5th 1934 with Joe Venuti playing quarterback for both teams Other famous athletes that attended during this time include: Jesse Owens (who won three gold medals at the 1936 Olympics); Marlene Dietrich (whose films were released here); Burt Reynolds (who filmed several scenes at President John F Kennedy Presidential Library & Museum here ); André Previn (founder & CEO Red Lobster)

Aventura is a city in the Miami-Dade County, Florida metropolitan area and it is the most populous city in both of the Broward County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,951,912 as of 2018. It is also one of South Florida’s poorest cities and has highest poverty rates in all of Monroe County. Aventura began as a small Indian village on Long Key Island nearFort Lauderdale in 1926 when settlers from Fort Lauderdale arrived to trade goods with local Indians. The first white person to live in Aventura was Fenton Boushie who purchased land from the Seminole Tribe in 1928. Fenton Boushie's heirs established the first permanent white family life here when they married two sisters: Lillian and Katherine Barnes. They named their home "Aventura" after a Spanish word meaning "the pearl." By 1933, more than 100 families had moved into what would become known as Aventura Village on Long Key Island including many prominent citizens such as Wernher von Braun, Dr. Jurgen Hertzog, Adolph Hitler and Franklin D. Roosevelt who all lived there during World War II for various reasons including security instructions at Ft Walton Beach Naval Air Station (now Homestead AFB). In late 1925 locals had petitioned county commissioners to annex their island so that it could become part of Miami proper but were turned down because Long Key was then considered part of Fort Lauderdale even though it was only 2 miles wide at its widest point and less than 1/4 mile long! In 1927 Commissioner Harry Hendershot granted annexation after determining that development on Long Key would not take place without it! The same year saw Aventura Parish form which included much of what is now Broward County; however annexation did not create any new municipalities within Miami-Dade until 1931 when Magic City annexed Plantation Park Estates east of downtown Coral Gables while still living within their original boundaries! With over $1 million dollars donated by John Daley ($2 million today) during his mayoral campaign against Mayor Carlos Gimenez in 1964–1965, Aventura became an official city under Mayor Rudolph Giuliani on February 14, 1966 with ceremony held at City Hall where he presented the keys to Mayor Frank Rosenthal who accepted them ceremoniously! With nearly full control over its own government through municipal incorporation came expanded services like road maintenance and zoning regulations; major projects like a new library (opened 1967), fire station (1968), new police force (1969) and expansions to existing parks like Aquarium Park (1978) – making this once sleepy fishing village into one bustling metropolis complete with shopping malls, movie theaters, golf courses and professional sports teams! During Rudy's mayoralty rapid economic growth occurred due largely to increasing tourism brought about by modern air travel availability made possible by opening Interstate 95 just south of town which linked all major U.S., Canadian and Mexican cities becoming accessible through just 10 minutes' drive; creating numerous jobs for workers building roadsides airstrips for private planes landing or taking off from airports across South Florida each day! Continued growth led to increased housing prices starting around 1980 though affordability remains an issue today especially since luxury condominiums have replaced traditional single-family homes throughout much of town center although some older homes remain extant along Coconut Grove Road & Atlantic Avenue
