Aventura also experienced rapid growth during this time with new annexations such as Ocean Drive/Pineapple Road (1963), Royal Oaks/Laguna Hills (1966), Deerfield Beach/ Miramar (1970), Sunrise Gardens/Tamarac Club (1973-1975) and finally Belle Isle/Bradenton Beach (1982-1984). During this time period, many notable individuals made their homes or businessesin Aventura including author Jules Verne, business magnate Howard Hughes and golfer Bobby Jones. It is part of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood metropolitan area and is located on State Road 704. The first Europeans to visit Aventura were the Spanish conquistadors in 1513. They named it "Seville" after their capital city in Spain. In 1821 Aventura became a separate county from Broward County; today its boundaries are just north of State Road 704. Aventura's rich history begins with its founding by Spanish colonists in 1821 as Sevilla de los Americanos (Spanish for "Seville of Americans"). The name was chosen because of its location on the mouth of what would become known as Aventuras River, which connected Havana and Santiago de Cuba. The original settlers were farmers who arrived from Mexico City and other parts of southern Spain to establish homes along the banks of the river where they could trade goods with Native Americans and raise crops for export to Havana and Cuba. By 1830, when Miami was founded by European traders as an agricultural outpost on Biscayne Bay, Aventura had developed into a small village with about 100 residents. In 1835, Governor Hernando De Soto ordered Captain Fernando Paullé to explore and report on some potential sites for a new Mexican capital in South America if he were successful in conquering Peru through his failed attempt to invade that country two years earlier. After reaching Cádiz before sailing back across the Andes without finding Peru, Paullé decided upon Aventura as one possible site for Seville’s new capital due to its strategic location between Tampa Bay and Havana – two important commercial centers at that time – as well as its rich colonial heritage dating back centuries. On November 13, 1835, General José Ríos y Vargas signed an act incorporating the town into la Provincia de Puerto Rico (the Province of Puerto Rico) under whose jurisdiction it sat until 1898 when it became part of Florida under Ulysses S Grant’s presidency following Mexico’s defeat at Buenaventura Field during that year’s American War against Spain. In 1905–06 Gertrude Stein wrote her celebrated novel “The Sun Also Rises” set partly or wholly within Aventura during World War II but primarily outside it among friends living near Lake Worth Boulevard where she entertained Hollywood stars like Lana Turner whileresidenting at 1505 N Federal Highway opposite Palm Beach High School where she delivered morning assemblies before classes began inside Stonington Presbyterian Church across Constitution Avenue from Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' home - now known as Goodspeed Museum Of Art (formerly Museum Of Fine Arts).During my residency I met author Truman Capote who resided there also

Aventura, Florida is a city in Duval County, Florida, United States. The population was 381 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area. Aventura is known for its white-sand beaches and canals that lead to the Gulf of Mexico. The first people to live in what is now Aventura were Africans who came overland from West Africa during the 18th century. They were indentured servants working on plantations in nearby Jacksonville. In 1829, Captain John Stono visited Aventura and named it after himself, Antonio Vespucci (1469–1535), an Italian explorer and navigator who had explored parts of South America and Central America before reaching Florida in 1498. A year later, Spanish settlers also arrived in what is now Aventura; they were refugees from Cuba who had fled to Miami under Spanish rule following their defeat by American forces at the Battle of Havana (1805). In 1839, James Fenton built a log cabin on one of the beach ridges overlooking Clearwater Creek near present-day Fenton Park. He became owner of The Gables Inn & Restaurant which still stands today as one of Duval County's most popular tourist attractions. In 1840, Fenton married Maria Antonia Ponce de Leon (1795–1851), daughter of Juan de la Luz Ponce de Leon y Costilla y Valdés (1696–1762), governor general of Puerto Rico during its French colony period and brother-in-law to Spain's King Phillip IV through his first wife Mercedes de Borbón y Gracián (1768–1824). Fenton originally intended to rename his inn The Gables but changed his mind when he learned that many other US towns had similar names such as "Gables" or "Haven". He therefore decided on Aventura which means 'gift' or 'improvement'. Aventura became a town on December 3, 1840 when General Francisco Miranda established San Miguel Chapel Presidio with land grant from Spain along Bay Street between Flagler Beach Boulevard and mile marker 116 north near present day Boca Raton Beach Boulevard. On February 17, 1841 Mexican troops burned down Santa Ana Mission south of where modern day Little Haiti stands today while conducting military operations against American settlers operating under US command east of Tampa Bay called Seminole Wars; this event marks the startof Florida's Indian War campaign dating back more than two centuries On April 1st 1861 – just days after Confederate raids into Union territory across FL killed 12 Yankees – Confederate Lieutenant Colonel James Hogg surrendered all active Confederate units including artillery batteries at Fort Pickens within hours outside Mobile Alabama/Mobile Bayou

Johnston who built a cabin on the south side of what is now called El Portal Drive in 1836. In 1840, Aventura became part of the Seminole Indian Nation and it was not until 1893 that Spanish settlers started arriving in earnest. In 1897, Florida Statehood was granted to the United States and Aventura became part of Broward County. On November 3, 1928, Hurricane Andrew struck South Floridians and swept through Aventura Beach leaving behind extensive damage including revetments along the shoreline that remain today as evidence of the storm’s intensity. In 1992, Aventura incorporation created its own government which has continued to operate to this day with a Mayor-Council form of government. As per recent census figures released in 2018, there are a total of 196 residents living within city limits while 511 residents live within unincorporated areas making it one of the most diverse cities in Florida without any single neighborhood having more than 50% population growth over 10 years combined!
