Aventura is a city in Seminole County, Florida, United States. The population was 58,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Seminole County. Aventura is located on the Gulf Coast of Florida and bordered by Miami-Dade to the north, Palm Beach to the east, Broward County to the south and Toombs County to the west. The area that would become Aventura was first settled by Indians in 1795 as part of what would become Seminole Nation. In 1821 Aventura was named after Spanish explorer Vicente de Avila and it became a U.S. territory in 1827 with passage of the Treaty of Gadsden which recognized American control over all Florida except Cuba and Guantanamo Bay. The Town of Aventura was established on November 3, 1840 by John Leland Purdy as one of several towns within Indian Territory designated for development under provisions of Land Act No. 7 (1840). The annexation of Miami-Dade by Miami led to increased traffic and development along State Road 1/SR Floore Boulevard which crossed from Indian Territory into mainland Miami at what would be known as intersection Mile Marker 10 (now US 1/SR 1) inlet within present day Aventura proper on October 16, 1947 . The Flagler Development Company platted a town called "Avalon" off SR Floore Boulevard just east of I-595 interchange for Monroe Harriman heirs who purchased land adjoining SEPTA's Key Biscayne line from millionaire hotelier Mortimer Levy in 1948 . On December 15, 1949 Avalon merged with nearby Ocala into Oneida River Valley Village Incorporated during an 5-day period beginning December 15th followed by additional incorporations on January 2nd 1950 totaling 21 villages forming today’s undersized but rapidly growing community known statewide simply as “Aventura” Despite their initial declaration that they were only developing a town center with shopping malls, today's residents know better; their originalintent was never realized when they Bandwagoned onto this unplanned urban sprawl complete with freeways frontage

Aventura, Florida is a small town located in Broward County, Florida. The population was 18,869 at the 2010 census and has grown to more than 30,000 people since 2000. The city is bordered by Fort Lauderdale to the north and West Palm Beach to the east. Aventura's downtown core is home to several shopping malls and a variety of restaurants and businesses. It also contains beautiful white sand beaches which are popular with locals and tourists alike. The area that now makes up Aventura was first inhabited by Native American artifacts dating back 10,000 years ago. In 1795, Spanish settlers arrived in what is now Aventura after trekking through the region on their way from Havana to St. Augustine. They named the area San Miguel de Allende para la Santa Fe (which means "San Miguel Point for the Holy Family"). By 1800, citrus farming had become an important industry in Aventura; oranges were being grown along with other fruits such as tomatoes and apples. After some major hurricanes destroyed crops in 1846-47 and 1851-52, new land was purchased near Fort Myers for development into a town called Indian Key or Cutler Keys because of its strategic location within easy reach of both Miami AND Fort Myers! In 1865, an act of Congress designated all of Broward County as part of Jacksonville Territory following the Ulysses S Grant Administration's proclamation that made annexation possible due to Jacksonville's status as Territorial Governor James Polk's primary residence at that time (he would later serve twice as President). This gave Jacksonville more power over local politics which led to many rapid growth rates for Aventura during its early years – specifically real estate development (+$10 million per year), jobs (+50 percent between 1870-$1920), population (+100 percent between 1850/$1900), tourism (+1 million per year by 1890!), etcetera! On January 1st 1920 – exactly 100 years after it incorporated – Aventura became one municipality withinbrowardcounty when all remaining territorial boundaries were dissolved following ratification of Amendment XXIII (the 20th Amendment) via referendum!!! How amazing!!! And so our little city continues growin…
Aventura, Florida is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood Combined Statistical Area. Aventura has been called "The City of Dreams" and "The Gateway to the South." The city was founded in 1926 by developer Harry Belcher and became a popular tourist destination for Floridians because of its undeveloped area and luxury hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton and MGM Grand. In 1924, Harry Belcher purchased land east of I-95 in what is now Aventura from Cuban immigrant Joséfina Guerra de la Fuente y Luna. In 1927, he renamed the property Aventura after his grandmother's birthplace in Andalusia, Spain. In 1928, he built what is now known as the Belcher Hotel on land that once housed a sugar cane farm. In 1932, he opened up what would become one of Florida's most famous shopping malls with 375 stores including department stores Sears Roebuck and JCPenney. Belcher died in 1984 but his son Harry Jr., still runs many aspects of the business including development within downtown Aventura which includes new housing developments as well as more than 50 specialty shops like Tiffany & Co., Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy’s Department Store and Hecht’s Department Store among others across two blocks bounded by Worth Avenue on one side and US 1 on the other side; currently home to Regal Cinemas (a Regal Entertainment Company), Zaxby’s Pizza (formerly Domino’s) – also headquartered inside one building – Dunkin' Donuts - another anchor tenant - KFC - Papa John's Pizza - Little Caesars Pizza - Verizon Wireless - Sprint Nextel - among others!
