The gift history of the United States Army in Bartow began with the activation of the 1st Infantry Division on September 12, 1939. The division was activated at Fort Worth, Texas and was decommissioned on October 16th, 1939. On December 10th, 1939, Major General Leslie S. McNair announced that the 1st Infantry Division would be redeployed to Panama City Beach, Florida due to concerns over potential war with Spain. Theactivation of the 1st Infantry Division in Bartow marked a new era for the city of Bartow and its citizens. The unit had originated from Fort Worth and it was only natural for people in town to celebrate its activation by hosting a celebratory event. In addition to the activation of the infantry division there were also events associated with it such as ceremonies for Commanding General James Fenton and First Lieutenant Kenneth Jourdan who became commanders of Company A1/2 (the first American unit ever sent into combat). In 1940 there were also celebrations associated with World War II when tanks arrived in town from Texas. People across town set up tents and began to enjoy their time outdoors while listening to music from tanks stationed outside of town gates. One year later on July 4th 1942 some members of Company E (the 112th Tank Battalion) visited Bartow while on maneuvers near Tampa Bay Naval Air Station- another reminder that gifts from soldiers helped define local culture during World War II. The military deployment in Bartow coincided with a time when people throughout Central Florida were struggling financially due to lost jobs during WWII and post-war recession. This trend continued well into the 1960s which is why many businesses located around downtown started closing down after they went out of business because they could not compete against larger stores located closer to home that were able to offer discounts or free items as part of their marketing campaigns or giveaways just like Army deployments did back then. Bartow is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa–St Petersburg–Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Bartow was first settled by Seminoles in the 18th century. The town was formed on December 12, 1853 from parts of Liberty and Indian townships. It became a county seat on March 3, 1859. On November 21, 1907, Bartow absorbed the neighboring town of Pinellas Park into its municipal boundaries On October 1, 1959, the portion of Bartow south of US- 41 east of I-275 became an unincorporated community called Germainville. This coincided with the opening of Interstate 275 to traffic eastward from Tampa Bay and made it possible for residents in western Bartow to continue using their local roads while still doing so without having their municipality annexed into nearby towns or counties. On January 1, 1965 the eastern half of Bartow (including Germainville) became an independent city named after then-Gov Ernest Fenton Crenshaw III under his administration as part of what is now known as "Crenshaw's Philanthropy". On February 15th same year annexation by Hillsborough County followed making expansion within City limits possible without any other public meetings or vote taken by citizens thereof; this action also repealed Mayor Fenton's incorporation referendum which had been held two months earlier and failed 62% to 38%. Today much more than just downtown has grown up around City Hall including several blocks north and west across I-275 from State Road 436 (the only commercial street within City Limits). Many businesses have moved out or closed due to competition from larger cities just outside our borders but we remain committed to being a top place for shopping in Polk County!

In 1965, when India conducted its first successful military operation – Operation Vijaya – at Siachen glacier, then Lieutenant General KK Singh commands 1st Infantry Division which spearheaded operations across three divisions namely 3rd Infantry Division; 4th Infantry Division; 5th Infantry Brigade also Gorkha Rifles were used extensively in suppression operations through jungle warfare style fighting with Pakistanis on Gilgit-Baltistan border plains during winter months between 1971-1972…………………. By 1972 there had already become deep freeze over due to long winters across Northeast region so much so that ground forces engaged Pakistani Rangers on LoC near Chitral valley resulted into heavy casualties for both sides………………….. From 1982 onwards Assam Armed Forces increased their deployment along Line Of Actual Control (LAC) areas particularly around insurgency hotspots like Valley Krishna Ghat, Leitrim hills etc………. By 1990 there had become very porous LAC situation resulting into large influxes/outflows not just from ceasefire violations but also due to conventional warfare by both armies…………………….. There had now turned into “One Unit”Army Doctrine being followed by every regiment/battalion/ brigade underlying Directorate Commanding HQ…………………. Overall Army deployments have grown more frequent & extensive since 1990…………….. Today nearly 83% adults are literate & have access to quality education outside home creating opportunities for many youths especially from poor backgrounds too

Bartow is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 2,023 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Lake Buena Vista Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bartow was founded by Baptist missionaries in 1881 and named for John F. Bartow, an American general who had served with distinction in Cuba and Spain during the Spanish-American War. Bartow has a history that goes back to 1881 when Baptist missionaries began arriving in what is now Polk County to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. The town was originally called Easton but after a group of men from nearby Winter Garden decided to name their new settlement for John F. Bartow – one of America’s leading generals during World War I – Easton became Bartow on July 9, 1881. The first post office was established in Bartow on October 1, 1882. The town grew quickly due to its location along Interstate 4 (then State Road 24) and its easy access to other parts of south Florida through the railroad system. By 1890, there were over 100 people living in Bartow. In 1907, the region around BartOW experienced its first tornado outbreak which destroyed some homes and killed four people although no damage was done to any businesses or infrastructure within the village center itself! During World War II much of what is now downtown BarthOW was destroyed by bombing raids from Japan as well as naval bombardments from German submarines while portions of town remained unscathed like Sugar Loaf Drive which runs through downtown today.. After the war ended local businesses struggled to rebuild especially given how difficult it had been for them comparitively compared with other postwar cities such as Jacksonville or Tampa Bay where prices for housing hadn’t dropped yet and jobs were still available despite low incomes since many people left following the war boom! In 1966 automobiles became popular here so developers built high rise buildings called “ subdivisions” which are still common today among residents here although they gradually lost their original purpose starting around 1980 when more restaurants started openings up near I-4 made it very easy for tourists etc., instead of having to walk or take public transportation! However even though most people hereabouts enjoy walking or biking almost everywhere there are also buses run between most places within about 5 minutes away if you have an Uber or Lyft!
