The Guardsmen played an important role in both World Wars I and II, being called up for service twice during WWI (1914-1918) and again in 1939 (1939-1940). However, their most famous participation came during WWII when they served as part of Operation Overlord under General Eisenhower’s command. In total, the Guardsmen suffered 4 fatalities while serving Their country; however all across America they are often remembered for their contributions during that time period.

Bartow, Florida is a suburb of Jacksonville, Florida and is part of the Jacksonville-Marion County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,521 as of the 2010 census. Bartow started off as a small settlement on the barrier island that now makes up Bartow Island in 1836 by Choctaw Indians. In 1839, Aiken County was created from parts ofernando County and formed Bartow County with its original boundaries. The first post office at Bartow was established in 1841. By 1865, all mail had to be delivered by boat to Naples because no steamboats could go through the then-thickly populated barrier island. In 1868, US 1 (now Interstate 10) was designated through central Bartow and made it possible for people to get around without going door to door or taking boats across the bridges into Jacksonville. In 1899 there were two dairies in Bartow: one run by Mrs. Hargrave and another run by Mr. Fenton which continue to be operated today as well as several other small businesses including a bank, grocery store, car dealership and auto repair shop until they closed their doors in 1972 due to Great Depression-era economic conditions throughout much of southeastern Florida In 1932 State Highway 2 (SH 2) was completed through central Bartow connecting Jacksonville with mainland Florida; this made it possible for people living near Jacksonville to travel easily between those cities without having to leave their homes – something that would not have been possible before In 1938 SH 2 was extended westward along US 1 becoming what is now I-10/US 14 interchange In 1956 SH 2 became State Road number 256 when it ran concurrent with I-10 eastbound from downtown Jacksonville north past Naval Air Station Miramar south past Fort Myers Beach east out into state line where it continued on towards Daytona Beach beyond Everglades National Park

On January 16th 1863 Battery H (1st Battalion/9th Regiment) Maryland Infantry opened fire upon Confederate troops attacking Fort Sumter (now Charleston Harbor), firing over 400 rounds per minute; destroying nine Confederate cannons along with 181 enemy soldiers killed!! In 1865 Union Major General Ulysses S Grant ordered 2nd Battalion/4th Regiment Ohio Volunteers stationed at White Sands Missile Range surrounding AlbuquerqueMexico Cityand fired upon Mexican rebels under Federal command killing 22 men & wounding 138 others !! Only four years earlier American forces had successfully repelled an attempted Confederate Invasion of Yankton Sioux Reservation !! However, during the 1970s through 2000s there was significant decline in both job opportunities and home prices due to large-scale development along State Road 26 combined with suburban sprawl across much of northeastern Polk County In recent years there has been renewed interest in downtown Barthow as a tourist destination that offers unique insight into early American culture while also preserving some key historical elements such as architecture dating back to 1835. One major attraction within walking distance of downtown is The Pavilion Theatre which opened in 1935 as one of America's first movie theaters. Other attractions include The University Museum (opened 1981), Plaza de la Cultura (opened 1984),the Stroud Center for Art History (opened 2007)and several other local museums including: BARTOW'S HISTORY: A Brief Overview Bartow was founded on July 8th 1835 by pioneer settlers who left Tallahassee on horseback after hearing about a rich gold mine near Georgia known as 'The Gold Mine.' By 1830 it had become an increasingly booming town with over 1 thousand citizens living in what is today PolkCounty alone! Many factors contributed to this growth including increased shipping activity due to nearby Fort Myers/Port Charlotte being built during this time period; growing demand for cotton goods brought about by increasing wealth generated from exports; new roads being built connecting different parts of Florida; international trade opening up thanks to Spain becoming involved; Plantation owners needing someone they could trust with their valuable resources so they wouldn't have them stolen; African Americans working alongside whites helping build these communities instead of being enslaved! With so many positive aspects associated with this era it's no wonder that Bartow remained an important center until well into produced during Reconstruction days when many plantations were abolished along with their slaves! In 1840 Baldwin purchased land east off I-4 just outside Ofcrawfordville now part Ofcona before moving his family here permanently settling down near present day Northwest corner Of Main Street & Second Avenue NW., he naming his new settlement "Baldwinville". He soon encountered difficulties trying get permission from various commissioners appointed by President James Kenedy notables like Senator John Pemberton(D-FL)to sell government land needed for road construction without infringing on private property rights ranching interests etc.. Nevertheless he persisted until finally getting Approved after 10 long months!! This event solidified Baldwinvilles status as an independently wealthy community separate from anyFlaveland area!!! The following year saw Baldwin build another house/fortification next door across 2nd Ave NE facing Lake Eustis which served dual purposes both defense against Native Americans(local Seminole tribe) encroaching onto properties east & west & providing shelter from hurricanes like Catrina while also providing plenty food storage ! He died suddenly aged 70yrs old less than two weeks after building this structure!. His son Sam took over running things briefly before selling it all back TO THE STATE OF FLORIDA IN 1957!! Today another family member still resides here full time & controls all aspectsOf operations except security!!! Today BARTOW celebrates its 175th anniversary annually & althoughits economy continues To decline due To large scale development along State Road 26 together w/sprawl across much Northeast Polk County - Downtown remains an interesting tourist destination that offers unique insights into early American culture while also preserving some key historical elements such as architecture dating back to1835!
