In the 1960s, Belle Glade began to become known as a bedroom community for members of the U.S. military stationed abroad. Wilson donated land to be used as a base for fighter-bombers and bomber aircraft stationed overseas. The first deployment of A-10 Warthogs occurred in 1970 at Andersen AFB in Guam. Since then, more than 1,500 planes have been Deployed here including F-15 Eagle fighters and KC-135 Stratotankers! In 2007, Mayor Rick Scott created an event that would become known as "The Day of Defense." This annual event celebrates American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters working with local law enforcement throughout Broward County who help support Operation Neptune's Spear which is conducted annually on National Mall during Veterans Day weekend - an effort to increase awareness about veteran homelessness!

The town was first established in 1892 as a group of farmers who named their new settlement after Belle de France, a French princess who had married Spanish King Fernando VII. In 1959, Belle Glade became an incorporated town and today it has a population of just over 2,000 people. The economy of Belle Glade is based largely on agriculture and ranching; however, there are also some small businesses and services that support the community. Belle Glade is home to several interesting attractions including the Belle Glade Golf Course which covers over 914 acres (367 ha). This well-maintained golf course offers professional play for all levels of players with bunkers, fairways that slope gently downward to createbirdie holes and tight doglegs that require excellent driving skills to reach the green at 616 yards (500 m). There are also dozen other courses within easy walking distance for those looking for an afternoon round out their summer fun. Another attraction unique to Belle Glade is Stroudsburg Museum which opened its doors in 2006 on State Road 8 near Interstate 474. This museum displays items from throughout American history from prehistory through World War II including artifacts from the Plantation Museum in Tallahassee which contains relics dating back to 1795 AD!

The town was then renamed after General Patton's headquarters in Third Army during the Normandy invasion in 1944. Today, Belle Glade remains an agricultural community with a wide variety of crops and fruits including oranges, apples, grapefruit, pears, bananas and apricots; cattlefeeds are also common along with some poultry production. There are also smaller businesses such as antique shops and restaurants that have contributed to the thriving community atmosphere over the years.
Belle Glade was founded in 1892 by J.P. Morgan and his associates as a citrus farming village near Fort Myers, Florida. The first production of oranges was in 1895, and the town became a main commercial center for the area. By 1910, Belle Glade had over 100 businesses and 2,500 people. It was home to several military installations during World War I and II, including NAS Jacksonville and NAS Miami Beach. In 1978, Belle Glade was renamed after real estate magnate Palm Beach County's sister city in Italy – Bellezza – following the merger of two villages that were adjacent to each other on the east side of Lake Worth Boulevard.
