By 1960s,Belle Glade was home to two dozen cafes including six Nobel Coffee Roasters (the largest concentration any town outside California had at that time).Many small businesses grew out of cafe activity; these included cafeterias such as Mrs.'s KitaBistro which became known for its delicious chicken & waffles; Biscuit Bandstand which prospered by serving breakfast all day long; The Blue Lagoon which offered drink specials all day long; Coral Gables Cafeteria which served pizza until 5pm each night; The Olde World Diner where sandwiches were made fresh daily until 1967 when it closed down because it was no longer able to compete with fast food restaurants.; numerous hardware stores across town specializing exclusively in espresso machines (BelleGlades preserved this tradition throughout much of the late 20th century) ; several Baptist churches (Churchill Chapel being one notable exception); men's clubs such as The Canasta Club where cards were played during lunchtime ; various bars/clubs frequented by military personnel stationed nearby like The Pistolero Lounge which featured live music nightly at 2am ; and several hotels particpating specifically in downtown business districts such as Renaissance Plaza Hotel - now a Marriott - offering free continental breakfast each morning along with rates good for stays up through December 31st inclusive;; health clubs located within walking distance including Stonington Country Club - now part of Disneyworld - offersues such as fitness classes and weightlifting facilities;; golf courses scattered throughout town providing opportunities both amateur and professional players;; numerous small businesses catering specifically towards retirees living near by doing things like pet sitting,, antique shopping etc., etc.; finally there are extensive plazas throughout town parks adjacent unto grocery stores or department stores complete With WALKING TOWERS FOR EATING OUT AND PARKING LOTS FOR DRIVING IN

With its white- Anglo-Saxon Protestant majority, Belle Glade developed into an increasingly diverse and vibrant community that is still home to many residents today. The earliest inhabitants of Belle Glade were English colonists who arrived in the early 1800s. By the late 1800s, however, many of the original settlers had either died or moved away for various reasons including sanitary concerns following the introduction of cholera fever into the area. The land that Belle Glade now occupies was first purchased by A.J. Snively in 1892 as part of his purchase of 4,000 acres around Fort Pierce. Snively named his new community after himself and his wife Charlotte (née Carrington). Belle Glade quickly grew to become one of Brevard County's most popular tourist destinations due to its wide variety of recreational options such as golf courses, fishing ponds, horseback riding trails and ATV trails; as well as its lush green environment which made it perfect for growing crops and raising livestock. The Belle Glade community was founded in 1904 by English settlers, who named it after Belle Isle on Canada's St. Lawrence River. The name "Belle Glade" is derived from French and means "Beautiful Place." The Belle Glade post office was opened on May 10, 1904, by Mrs. Anna Burtis and mailed letters from her home at 4500 NW 2nd Ave. In 1907, the postmaster became Mrs. John Hargrave and continued to serve until 1953 when he moved to Coral Gables with his family and retired there as an employee of the Miami Electric Railway Company Limited Partnership. In 1934, Mr. Hargrave donated land for a public school which became Belle Glade High School; however, this school closed in 1975 due to lack of enrollment although some students attended nearby South Broward High School until 1984 when that school also closed because of budget overruns caused by the recession). The first doctor in Belle Glade was Dr J Fenton who practiced medicine from 1895-1899 before moving to Lantana where he built a practice that lasted over 50 years Dr A N Homer arrived in 1902 and did general surgery then turned to psychiatry which he continued doing until his death in 1957 In 1948 Dr Harry Price established OB/GYN services here followed by plastic surgery pioneer Dr D P Soper who started providing skin care treatments here In 1970 physical therapist Pam Day arrived with her PT service displacing occupational therapists Julie Schulz and Dawn Smith with daycare space for mothers working full time outside of their homes In 2002 vocational training provider Tammy Weisner joined forces with Physical Therapist Jeff Moreland to form You & me Physical Therapy Services Incorporated (“Y&M”) At that time both providers offered primary care physical therapy services through their individual businesses within a collaborative environment

In 1916, the Belle Glade Chamber of Commerce was formed and soon began to grow into a major community center. In 1948, the Belle Glade zoning ordinance was passed which allowed for development within the limits of the community. This led to increased housing and business opportunities in Belle Glade and its surrounding area. The population of Belle Glade reached over 10,000 by 1960. By that time, many famous Americans had purchased homes in Belle Glade such as Jackie Robinson and Bobby Kennedy. A new shopping mall called "The Landing" was developed in 1974 along with new office buildings and a movie theater. The town's popularity continued to rise throughout the 1990s thanks to waves of immigrants coming to live in BelleGlade after being drawn by its beautiful scenery and thriving economy.
