Boca Raton is adjacent to954 miles (1,487 kilometers) of Atlantic Ocean beaches on three sides and to its namesake river on one side. It straddles the border of Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties. The first time Boca Raton was documented as an area in present-day Palm Beach County was in 1665 when Alonso Pacheco passed through here on his way from Cuba to Florida. The first white person to set foot in what is now Boca Raton was Capt. John Stennis who sailed into the bay there in 1768 during the British Captain John Hawkins Expedition against Spanish colonists. He named it "Bocas Doce" or "Four Boats". The name stuck and remained until 1814 when Richard Richardson, a British merchantman captain took possession of two small islands now known as Coconut Grove and Plantation Key after they were ceded by Spain to Richardsons father-in-law Augustus Pinellas for his part in suppressing Seminole Indian resistance during the American Revolution. In 1821, Henry Flagler founded Flagler's Cattle Company with capital investment from James Kenedy of Boston and began marketing beef throughout South America using ships anchored off Cuba’s sugarcane coast which transported goods around Cape Canaveral then upriver to Miami beach where cattle were fattened before being exported back home across the ocean aboard sailboats called “Flagler Fairships” that would visit various ports along their route like HavanaBay then Buenos Aires Argentina before finally returning laden with fresh fruit cargo unloaded at Portofino near Venice Italy before sailing north again for another stop off Key West Fla then Tampa Bay Area bringing produce all overNorth America including east coast Catchabull markets in New York City BostonCleveland Toronto while still anchored offshore off Havana Bay servicing Cuban sugar cane farmers with fresh meat exported back home via steamboats likethe “Patriots” He also built a house at 6055 North Country Road today's University Drive just outside town limits

Boca Raton, Florida is a city located in the Miami-Dade County area of South Florida. The city was founded in 1925 by Georges Bouchard and his wife, Jeanne. The city has a population of over 175,000 residents as of 2015. The name "Boca Raton" comes from the Bahamian word bocahtó which means " harbour". The early history of Boca Raton can be traced back to 1925 when George Bouchard and Jeanne founded the city on the corner of Northwest 8th Avenue and Northeast 2nd Street. It wasn't until 1957 that the first school opened in Boca Raton proper. By 1965, there were over 20 businesses operating within the limits of Boca Raton. In 1970, it was announced that a new shopping center would be built adjacent to Palm Beach Airport. This shopping center would become known as Mar-a-Lago Country Club and would have more than 100 stores and restaurants inside it. During this time, Boca Raton also became home to many famous people including Count Basie (1901-1970), Irving Berlin (1895-1968), Dean Martin (1945-1988) and Sammy Davis Jr. (1937-2010). Additionally, many major league sports teams such as MLB's Miami Marlins and NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers played their games here during this time period including Miami Dolphins' winning Super Bowl XXXVI in 1996 while also being one of only two cities to ever host Super Bowls played outside America (the other being New Orleans). In recent years, much focus has been placed on redevelopment efforts taking place within downtown areas surrounding Palm Beach International Airport with plans for high end apartments/residences along with a number of businesses currently under development or undergoing renovation specifically within MARTA rail transportation terminals at PortMiami Boulevard near Hollywood Road NW which will include an indoor arena/sports complex dedicated to professional basketball & tennis events among others
