In 1838, General Antonio López de Santa Anna gave the name “Boca” to a creek near present-day intersection of US 1 Business Loop/SR 936 & PGA Boulevard/US 1A Business Loop/SR 936A to honor José María Buenaventura y Escobar who had visited this area earlier that year while serving as governor of Cuba under American rule. On July 4th 1860 – one hundred years after Buenaventura’s visit – General Zachary Taylor designated part of what are now Adams County (northwest corner), Monroe County (southwest corner), Lake County (east side), Palm Beach County (northern side) & Hillsborough County (central side) as part of Jackson Township according to original US map prepared under Spanish colonial government—an act which led eventually to Jackson County’s creation on November 3rd 1835 when all but Lee county east thereof were added pursuant to US Constitution Article IV Section 8 paragraph 2.— thus redrawing Union Jack flag at Battle Of Horseshoe Bend.— later becoming county seat

Boca Raton, Florida is a city in subtropical Palm Beach County, Florida, United States. The population was 31,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. Boca Raton straddles the Gulf of Mexico on its western border and has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and mild winters. The name "Boca" means "mouth of the bahamas." The place first became known as a fishing village on Bahama Island before being moved to Palm Beach County in 1885 by J. P. Morgan's firm. From 1886 until 1912 it was called Key West; then came Boca Raton in 1914 because it had been granted city status that year by Governor Manuel López de Portillo. The original town site consisted of only a few parcels of land, some of which are still extant today: South Boulevard (now US-1), Midway Drive (now US-1A), Dolphin Drive (now Oakland Blvd.), Atlantic Avenue/Pinecrest Road (later Coral Gables Road), Plantation Drive/Dolphin Way ( later Indian Trail/Dolphin Lane). In 1885 cattle were driven acrosshat bridge into what is now Boca Raton from Cuba for sale to local farmers and pastoralists. By 1895 the number of cattle owned by Englishmen living in Boca had grown to about 10,000 animals and 100 men worked their herds daily from three large ranches located near present day Coconut Creek on John F Kennedy Boulevard between Sunrise Highway and Business Aviation Boulevard west of I-95 southbound exit 4A off I-95E within walking distance from downtown Boca Raton. Some early settlers who arrived after 1885 included banker Samuel Morse Stiles, real estate developer Edward Siedlecki and sugar daddy Wernher von Braun among others In 1925 AIG purchasedKey West cigar factory for $5 million making it one of largest single investments ever made in America at that time In 1926 construction began on Municipal Airport adjacent to what is now Business Aviation Boulevard just north side property line east & west side road heading towards airport lot – now Airport Dr., future runways 3L & 5R were built . The airport served primarily flight training during those years with only limited commercial airline service provided until 1959 when Pan American World Airways brought scheduled passenger service to Key West which continued until 1984 when all flights stopped due to lack Of runway space .
