The Boca Raton Navy Yard was founded in 1922 as a small ammunition depot on the north side of Boca Raton. By 1940, it had become one of the largest naval yards in the country. The yard produced submarines, destroyer escorts, and other vessels for the US Navy and Marine Corps. In 1966, Congress authorized purchases of two new nuclear-powered submarines from South Korea and renamed the yard after them – USS Miami (SSN-826) and USS Los Angeles (SSN-721). In 1990, Boca Raton became home to Naval Air Station Miramar, which was responsible for training US navy pilots for carrier operations. In 2002, NAS Miramar was closed down due to budget cuts. The station's last employee received their retirement benefits in 2003. However, NAS Miramar's legacy will live on through its namesake property –Miramar Island – which is now a popular tourist destination for boating, swimming, fishing, and hiking.

In 1925 Eva Braun used Mrs. Epstein's cottage as her bedroom when she visitied Palm Springs with then-Marquette Hotel owner André Malraux during his exile from Germany during World War II In 1954 Donatello Marino opened his DonatellO Marino Steakhouse & Catering Co., at 5500 Collins Avenue NW which became one of Miami's most popular tourist destinations On July 15, 1959 Harry Shearer starred as attorney John McKay on NBC's prime time period drama series "The Three Musketeers". The show ran for six seasons between 1951 and 1957 In 1966 Boca Raton became a charter member of the United Auto Workers International Union Local 7984 In 1969–1970 Boca Raton hired Willie Mays as player/manager of the New York Yankees baseball team During this time also many high level arrests took place including those made against Cuban émigré Fidel Castro who had been living openly in Miami since 1961
