The Bradenton Army National Guard has been a part of the United States military since 1919. During World War II, the unit was activated and served in the Pacific Theater. In 1949, the army began contracting with Gourmandise Inc., which became one of the largest suppliers of military gifts to U.S. servicemen and women. The Bradenton, Florida Army National Guard has a rich history dating back over 100 years. The unit was originally organized on December 15, 1898 as the 1st Battalion (Fla.) Infantry Regiment. It was redesignated the 4th Infantry Regiment on November 1, 1924 and again redesignated the Bradenton Infantry Regiment on October 25, 1927. On February 20, 1942, the regiment became brigaded with three other infantry regiments in the Florida State Military District. The brigade was redesignated as Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the 2nd Brigade (1st Orthopaedic) Infantry Division on September 14, 1952. On July 12, 1957 it became an attached battalion to 3rd Brigade (2nd Infantry) Armor Division. From its inception until May 6, 1959 when it became an activated battalion under command of 3rd Brigade (2nd Infantry) Armor Division headquarters at Fort Brooke Army Air Base), it served as part of III Corps Tactical Zone area troops inactivated during Vietnam War era.On May 6, 1959 it became an activated battalion under command of 3rd Brigade (2nd Infantry) Armor Division headquarters at Fort Brooke Army Air Base). Bradenton, Florida is a city in the United States. The population was 1,846 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Gulf of Mexico Oceanfront and bordered to the north by Tampa Bay, to the east by Jacksonville, to the south by Miami Beach, and to the west by palm oil-producing Pompano Beach. The area that now Bradenton was first settled in 1836 as part of what is now Hillsborough County. In 1851 it became an incorporated village and then a city in 1907. The current name originated with a landowner's suggestion that someone else name their community after Captain James Cook's original voyage around America (the "Bradenton Beaches"). It has been reported that citrus growers in Bradenton use more than 50% of all pesticides used in Florida; many are registered with state agencies.

Bradenton is a city in Bay County, Florida, United States. The population was 86,918 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Bay County. The city was founded in 1887 by J.D. Braden and named for him. In 1903, it became a part of Tampa and was renamed again to Bradenton in 1959. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has an area of 21 square miles (57 km2). The first Europeans to visit what is now Bradenton were Spanish Conquistadors who landed there on December 12th, 1565 by Captain José de Sanchís from Spain during their expedition known as "La Gloria" or "The Glory". They named the bay after Captain Alonso Mena y Castro, 1st Viscount of Havana who had been governor of Cuba at that time and led a force against Hernando de Soto's Expedition under Governor Martín Fernández de Oviedo y Valdés on November 3rd, 1568 while Sancho Pérez de Villalobos was captain general and commandant of Cuba's cavalry forces under René d'Albarracín at Las Islas Altas near modern-day Tampa Bay . Captain Alonso Mena y Castro also explored parts of present day Sarasota and Hillsborough counties before his death in 1593 aboard La Gloria which anchored off what is now Pensacola Beach on February 7th 1503 when he was 38 years old! In 1794 French explorer Jacques Marquette landed at what is now Bradenton with his squadron commanded by Pierre Marquette - one of three membersOf Français explorers Voyage du Grand Hôtel - exploring what are today Collier Sound and Gulf Breeze country eastward along today's US 90 corridor linking Mobile Bay with Tampa Bay via land grants made by King George II in 1784!!! On October 24th 1821 Seminole Chief Manuel Paleo land grantwas acceptedby John Wesley Smith - founderof Methodist Episcopal Church locatedin downtown St Petersburg as part of Treaty Of Apalachia endingthe Seminole War between American Indian nations west of Lake Okeechobeeand British Indian nation east sideof lake where Apalachian Mountains are located!!!!!
