In 1900, its initial development was hampered by its location near Tampa Bay and its lack of water resources. However, over time it has become one of the most important economic and cultural centers in Central Florida due to its growing industry and concentration of high-end office buildings and homes. His report stimulated exploration amongst some American businessmen interested in acquiring tracts along Tampa Bay’s coast for future settlement including James Eadsworth and George Paulding who founded Paulding & Co., an insurance company based in St Petersburg which soon became one of America’s leading shipping companies; and Dorman & Nichols LLP – one of Tallahassee’s earliest law firms – which started practicing law in 1841 only two years after dePortocarrero’s landfall northof Clearwater Beach! Bradenton is a city located in the United States state of Florida. The population was 1,523 at the 2010 census and is estimated to be 2,059 as of 2019. It is the county seat of Bradenton County. The namesake of Bradenton is a local man, Sam Braden, who started an ice cream company in 1916. The city reached its peak population during World War II with almost 50,000 residents. However, since then the population has decreased by about 25%. Today, many locals still call Bradenton their home because it offers a great lifestyle without having to leave the city limits. History in Brief: The first inhabitants of what would become present-day Bradenton were Native American Indians who lived on what is now known as Fort Myers Beach before European settlers arrived in 1763. They named their settlement after SamuelBraden, an early settler and business partner of Captain James Cook on his trip around the world aboard HMS Resolution. In 1824 John Foust founded Foust & Company cotton ginnery and slave market in what became downtown Bradenton. These early businesses were some of the first operations within modern-day town boundaries today. In 1907 Jacksonville native Wm Henson erected a sawmill on Biscayne Bay that would soon become one of North America's largest producers of saw blades for furniture making and other industries until it closed down in 1961 due to competition from Asian mills. A year later Easley businessman Emmet Flood opened his own lumberyard adjacent to Henson's mill which generated much interest throughout South Florida for lumber products available only from inland regions like Alabama or Minnesota due to transportation problems at that time.# Along with this new industry activity came new people into town; most notably surgeon Dr George Quesnel who built two hospitals here – one for military veterans and another for civilians (now called University Hospital). He also constructed several homes including number 4E on Congress Street today’s State Fairgrounds where he resided until his death in 1908 # In 1912 Andrew Johnson appointed JF Byrnes as Mayor after winning election as a Democrat against incumbent Republican John Witherspoon (# After Byrnes left office following redistricting efforts created by Republicans) JF McQuaid took over as mayoralty effective February 3rd 1913 # From 1913 through 1966 both houses of the Florida Legislature were located here – House Number One across Constitution Avenue from City Hall while Senate continued to be located at Government Center until 1959 when they moved westward along Constitution Avenue into newly created Sunrise Boulevard district (# This left City Hall vacant until 1984 when it reopened under then Mayor Boutin) On January 1st 1925Bradenton's incorporation occurred following passage by voters referendum (they had earlier passed an ordinance annexing neighbouring Fort Myers Beach) becoming official with first streetlights going out October 15th 1926 followed by electric service November 6th 1926 providing basic services such as water lines and power lines# At this time too much development was taking place outside city walls so action was taken to erect more barriers between downtown and non-downtown areas…a streetcar line was put into operation linking Dixie Highway directly underground with major thoroughfares like Broward Boulevard & Herald Drive creating blocks balanced by large warehouses facing high waterfront areas now known collectively as “Downtown”…..this plan backfired when advances made inside city limits led developers seeking more access outside those boundaries instead leading ultimately to construction Hellenic Way/Northeast Expressway bypassing Downtown completely
Bradenton was first settled in 1835 by Colonel James Braden. The town was named for Captain John Braden, who had been a naval officer during the Seminole War. In 1868, the city of Bradenton was founded on land donated by Judge Samuel Prentice. It became an incorporated municipality in 1912.
