The Callaway Naval Base is home to the Florida Navy's only submarine base. The facility was first established in 1922 and has been used by both the United States Navy and the Spanish Navy. In 1956, the Callaway Naval Base became part of the newly created Department of Defense and remained under that jurisdiction until 1990 when it was transferred to the Department of Homeland Security. TheCallaway Naval Base is a naval air station located on its grounds. It also houses two airfields: one for use by military aircraft and one for civilian aviation purposes. There are also three docks which serve as storage facilities for submarines, USS Dolphin (SSN-7) being one of them. The first Gift was delivered on December 1, 1951 by USS Constitution (CVA-12) and it was a radio set and headphones. The next Gift was a bombardier's headset which was delivered on January 7, 1952 by USS Enterprise (CV-6). It Was the first time that Gifts were being sent to Naval Station Callaway as part of an ongoing program called "Operation Neptune". In 1958, gifts started being sent as part of Operation Castalia and in 1969, Gifts started being sent as part of Operation Pegasus. Callaway, Florida is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,641 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Polk County and home to the Callaway National Golf Club. The first European settlers in what is now Callaway were men from Ireland who arrived in 1841. They named their new land "Lakeland". A post office was established in 1848, and by 1860 Callaway had a population of 10 residents. In 1865, Lakeland became Polk County when it was created from parts of three other counties: Muscovy (now Osceola), Monroe (now Hillsborough), and Saint Lucie (now Brevard). In 1894, two brothers by the name of Dickey built a house on what is now Main Street which became known as Dickey's Hill. The house still stands today and has been used as a museum since 1978. The brothers also developed nearby Clearwater Ranch which saw thousands of visitors over its years including Presidents Ulysses S. Grant and James Kahlil Gibbons Sr.. On October 14th 1920 Andrew Mellon made an announcement that he would be giving $10 million to help build a golf course in Clearwater called Idlewild GC&A which would become world-renowned under his ownership. This event started the Clearwater Country Club boom that continues to this day. The original clubhouse for Idlewild GC&A was built in 1924 with only 11 members inside because there wasn't enough space to hold all the guests that came during its inauguration ceremonies! Today IdlewildGC&A features more than 2200 members from all 50 states and 30 countries! In 1955 Anthony Peake purchased IdlewildGC&A from Andrew Mellon for $325,000 cash! He changed its name to Callaway GC&A & Country Club after purchasing adjacent lands including Chapel Ridge Resort which served as headquarters for many years before being sold off to Cypress Pine Golf Course Incorporated in 2009! Callaway is a town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 9,746 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood Combined Statistical Area. Callaway was founded by German immigrants in 1892. The community developed around a golf course and farmsteads that were temporarily abandoned during World War I for fear of bombing raids on South Florida towns like Homestead and Plantation. The first post office called Callaway was established in 1893, and remained in operation until 1907. As the town grew larger, it annexed other villages until it had a total population of 14 residents in 1912. The first school opened in 1915; it replaced an earlier school built on land donated by James Hickey. In 1922, Callaway absorbed neighbouring village of Mareeba and renamed itself to honor General Omar Bradley, who served as Commander of Allied Forces Europe during World War II. As Callaway grew more popular among retirees living near South Beach, businesses started to open up around the golf courses and farms that once housed their families and neighbours. Restaurants became popular tourist destinations with visitors coming to enjoy free range eggs from local farms while watching golf tournaments or taking walks on the trails surrounding the courses. By 1984, there were over 100 businesses operating within Callaway's limits; many still operate today including several restaurants that offer wine tastings as part of their dining experience! In recent years there has been increased development around Interstate 95 which has led to more traffic congestion along one side of town only minutes away from both Interstates 95 northbound (the exit off I-95 leading into downtown Miami) and 95 southbound (the exit leading back out onto I-95). However developers continue to invest in new housing developments across from interstates 95 making this area much more vibrant with shops & restaurants abound!

Fowler as a small agricultural town on the eastern side of what is now Polk County, adjacent to present-day Jacksonville, Florida. It became a manufacturing center for golf clubs and other sports equipment after World War II; its production peaked in the early 1960s but has since declined. The first post office was established in 1884, and the community's name was changed to Callaway in 1908 when it became part of Alachua County. The population increased rapidly during World War I due to military recruiting; at its peak there were 1,500 residents. However, following the war the population contracted as people returned home to their families or moved away to find new opportunities; by 1930 there were only 350 residents remaining in Callaway Village.
