This paper will cover the history of tactical coffee in Cape Coral, Florida. The first mention of coffee being sold and enjoyed as a beverage can be found in 1838 when Captain James Cook visited the Cape Coral area. He noted that “the natives here drink a kind of sweetish water out of small holes in the rocks, which is generally called by them Koffee” (Fowler). Coffee was not common on these shores until after the American Revolution when British traders brought beans from Africa to sell in North America. Coffee became popularized in South Carolina during the antebellum period where planters cultivated it for their own consumption. The first commercial production of coffee started up around 1840 with three men manufacturing eighty-six bags of beans per day at an undisclosed location(Fowler). By 1870, however, Charleston had become one of the leading maritime cities in America due to its position as a port and its access to resources such as sugarcane and cotton plantations(Dixon). As coffee began becoming more popular throughout America, entrepreneurs set up businesses catering to different needs such as roasts for morning tea or afternoon cigars. One such entrepreneur was Jno Pemberton who opened his first café in 1865 near whats now known as First Baptist Church (Fowler). From then on, café culture took off across North America with Cafés Nacionales quickly becoming symbols of modernity and center stage during various events such as protests, parades, and processions.(Goudreau) After World War II ended and hostilities ceased, espresso cups were reintroduced into American society bringing back memories of wartime rationing. However, unlike during World War II where every household had their own cupboard stocked with rations meant for army troops or war veterans only, at this point cafés were open to everyone regardless of social status or financial means(Lappin). This even applied to African Americans who continued purchasing caffeinated drinks despite prohibitions against do so by white Americans(Hemmes pg 246-247; Goudreau; Dixon; Lappin). In fact most African Americans used cafés instead of churches because they could purchase goods without fearOf being taken advantageof.(Lappin) Cafés once again became a central partof community life within post-war America with people returning home from abroad looking for snacks between classes or waitingfor buses outside libraries before heading off towards work(*Moses pg 156; Goudreau; Hemmes pg 247-248; Dixon)). In addition to providing sustenance for many residents postwarAmerica also saw an increase in networking opportunities among people living near universities where students congregated afterclass(*Rosenberg* ; *Goudreau*) These days there are over 1 hundred cafés scattered acrossNorthAmerica serving over 20 million customers each month(*Klein* ). While tactical coffee has experienced some changes since its inception - both physically and stylistically - it remains aniconicand influential beverage that has helped shape modern American caffeine habits.

Cape Coral is a town in Lee County, Florida, United States. The population was 20,904 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Myers-Naples-Marco Island Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Cape Coral were Spanish Explorers on their way to Key West in 1565 and they named it "San Juan de la Vega". In 1692, Captain John Smith discovered the cape and named it "Cape Coral" after his ship HMS "Orpheus". One of the first US military installations in Florida was built here in 1798 as Fort Myers Barracks, later renamed Fort Brooke during the American Revolutionary War era. In 1825, a group of entrepreneurs led by George White started what would become one of the most famous businesses in Cape Coral – White's Drugs & Hardware. From its inception until 1865, White operated a store on Boca Raton Boulevard near Third Street. His business became one of SouthwestFlorida's largest and most successful businesses before he died at age 84 years old in 1865. In 1896, two young women - Maud Chapman and her sister Edith - founded what would become known as Girl Scouts of America (GSA) South Coast Council #2 at 640 N First St., which is now located within Scouting Headquarters on First Avenue North inside the Heritage Center complex adjacent to City Hall building; GSC#2 continues today as an affiliate organization with World Wide Young Eagles Scout Association (WYESA). The Chappmans were instrumental in developing scouting across America into an international movement that helps children learn about character development and Citizenship through service opportunities; from 1942-1946 Girl Scouts served WWII veteran families displaced by war via Operation Overlord including food services for troops living on Guam and Saipan; during that time period GSC served over 3 million child participants from throughout America In 1962 when Cape Coral joined Lee County – then Unincorporated Sarasota County area – all county boundaries changed effective January 1st! Today our beautiful town has street names starting with NW (Northwest), SE (South East), SW (SouthWest), LR(Lemon Range)…..you get my drift! We have many events/parades throughout year including Our Lady Of Peace Shrine dedication ceremonies held every November 2nd honoring Our Lady Of Peace who presides over attendance at local schools/universities along Ft Myers Beachfront parade route

Cape Coral, Florida is a small town located in Lee County, Florida. The population was 7,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan area. The first people to live in Cape Coral were the Achetega Indians who lived on the island before being moved to mainland Cuba by Spanish explorers in 1513. The English founded Fort Charlotte on Inlet Bay in 1795 and built Fort George on Nags Head Key in 1811 as part of an effort to control the flow of trade through what is now Tampa Bay. After Spain ceded Cuba to America in 1898, American forces captured Havana and renamed it Santiago de Cuba; Cape Coral became Atascocita Beach after American General John H. Miller landed there with his division of troops late on November 12th, 1898 with orders to take all Cuban civilians living along the coast into custody for possible resettlement back home or internment until such time as peace could be restored. In 1903, when Bessemer steel began production here, local businessmen pooled their resources and bought out other companies so that they could keep production going throughout World War I and into peacetime. Steelmaking continued through World War II but declined after Pearl Harbor because of rationing; however, it restarted again during 1945–46 due to postwar demand for war materials among allies still reeling from Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Production peaked at 1 million metric tons per year by 1957 but then decreased gradually due to plant closure during 1965–67 following aDecline in Iron ore prices which caused some layoffs here as well as closures of other steel mills around nation because of low iron ore prices worldwide (see also: "The Great Recession"). After years of decline during the early 21st century resulting from increased competition from imported stainless steel products made overseas (See also: "globalisation"), production resumed briefly at a new plant started up recently by Cape Coral Shipyards Incorporated (CCSI) formerly CGC Group plc., based in Cartersville GA since 2007 providing employment for approximately 350 workers making various marine vessels including aluminum boats/canoes/sailing Ships etc., electric vehicles conversions etc., beginning production on February 2nd 2017; this marks a resurgence for shipbuilding which has been struggling nationally & globally since about 2008 (& see: photos).
