The history of the air force in Casselberry, Florida dates back to World War I when the United States military established an air base in the town. The first daylight bombing raids were conducted from this airbase during WWI and it was from here that General Billy Mitchell began his campaign for independence from Great Britain. In 1948, when the United States acquired its own Air Force, the Base was renamed Creech-Hancock AFB. Creech-Hancock AFB played a significant role in Operation Desert Storm which resulted in the liberation of Kuwait. After Operation Desert Storm ended, Creech Hancock AFB returned to civilian use and was known as Creech-Thompson AFB until 1992 when it was reactivated as Casselberry AFB. Today, Casselberry is home to a unit ofthe Air Force Reserve Command (AFC) with over 4200 enlisted members who provide essential support to The U.S. Air Force at all times through peacetime and wartime operations worldwide. Additionally, there are several USAF Special Operations units stationed here including Delta Forces/Green Berets and Army Rangers who conduct missions such as counterterrorism, counterinsurgency and special operations tasks under Ministry of Defense auspices only rarely exposing themselves to public view. All told, the USAF presence in Casselberry has been critical to both local economy and security since its establishment nearly 100 years ago!

Casselberry also produced oilseed crops such as cotton and flax for local mills until the early 21st century when those industries went out of business due to technological advances. In recent years, Casselberry has seen some growth due to its location within close proximity to major shopping malls and highways like I-10 and I-95. The primary industry that remains important in the town's economy is tourism with visitors coming for all types of activities such as fishing, golfing, tennis (the town has two professional tennis courts), camping and hiking/mountain biking/skiing/snowboarding among others.
The United States Air Force Deployed Gift History is one of the more unique and interesting aspects of USAF history. It began in the late 1940s, when General Hoyt S. Vandenberg decided to establish a gift history program for the USAF. The idea was to keep track of any and all gifts that were given to the USAF by members of the public. The first such program was run under General Vandenberg’s command during World War II. During that time, the USAF received many donations from civilians, both inside and outside of America. Some of these donations went beyond just money – they included items such as clothing, tools, aircraft parts, or even foodstuffs. Since then, AFDG has continued to collect gift history data and create unique displays that illustrate how differently people have donated over the years. One example is an exhibit called “AJC50: A Hundred Years of Giving” which features photos and videos chronicling individual donations made by individuals between 1950 and 2010. Another great example is an exhibit called “Community Service: Theiburtson Collection” which features photos and videos taken from various local community events across America over the years. Overall, the AFBDG gift history program has helped make USAF culture much more aware and appreciative than it would have been otherwise possible. It has also allowed for an extensive collection of memorabilia related to each individual donation – something that would not be possible without this valuable resource!

Casselberry is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Lake Wales Metropolitan Statistical Area. Casselberry was founded by Dutch settlers in 1768 as "Stadt Aalst". It became known as "Casselberry" after Englishman John Cassell settled there in 1819 and named it after his native county of Yorkshire, England. The first post office opened in 1828 and remained open until 1957. In 1907 the Casselberry Volunteer Fire Department was formed and has been serveing the community continuously since then. The town was platted on November 16, 1909, by Dolphus Sievers with land that he had bought from the Seminole Indian Tribe for $1,500. The name comes from Captain John Cassell's finding of wild hogs near what is now Casselberry Creek on October 10, 1819 while exploring land east of Stonington along present-day US 27/State Road 438 (now US 31).Captain John Cassell had also found what is now known as Old Fort Stewart which served as a trading post between Spanish colonists and Native American tribes during the eighteenth century before becoming a U S Army post garrisoned during World War II; it later reverted to its original title of Fort Stewart Highway Administration Site within Cassille Hall State Park - today’s Home Depot headquarters northeast of town on SR438A (US 27) - when it closed its service due to budget cuts following World War II. When Jacksonville went through rapid growth during the 1920s and 1930s, many new residents moved into areas such as Kissimmee or Orange County seeking quicker transportation opportunities than required within Polk County limits and so development around downtownCasselberry began slowly but surely throughout much of this time period being primarily single family homes built by farmers who raised their families hereabouts until well into suburbia status beginning in about 1950 thru 1960 especially among older married couples who could no longer farm anymore due to changing market conditions brought about largely by increased interstate travel opportunities associated with rising aviation technology while population densities continued to decrease making downtown transportation options more important than ever before even though most everyone still lived close enough to visit frequently even if they drove out several miles each day for shopping or other local activities some people did move away over time although many people continue to live here locally including some retirees currently living off property taxes paid on property located across I-95 from our high school which we attended & graduated from almost 50 years ago
Casselberry was founded in 1805 by John Cassel, a landowner and settler. The town was named for theCassel family, which had earlier settled in what is now Orange County. By 1827, Casselberry had a population of about 100 people. In 1832, the United States acquired Florida from Spain and renamed it the Territory of Florida.
