Casselberry, Florida is a small town located in Polk County, Florida. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. Casselberry is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg-Clearwater Metropolitan Statistical Area. Casselberry was founded in 1892 by John and Emma Casselberry. The Cassels brought their rude cattle to this area from Texas and began ranching. In 1905, they added a house to the property and named it after their daughter Cecilia. By 1910, they had two businesses: J C's grocery store and the Masonic Lodge No. 7 which served as a hall for dances and other events held in the community during summertime. The post office was established at Casselberry on July 15, 1912, under the name of Clearwater Springs. It changed its name to Casselberry on December 11 of that year due to resistance from some residents who felt that it would be confusing for local businesses with different names while still open mail service continued under Clearwater Springs name until 1922 when it became known as Polk County Post Office #1. In 1940, during World War II, much of Casselberry were destroyed by fire; however most of what remained was rebuilt within three years time thanks to donations from many people in the community including Mrs Hildebrandt Mclntyre (wife of Dr Hugh McLntyre), Mr Harry Bates (owner/operator of Bates' Grocery Store), Mrs Belle Flowers (widow of A W Flowers), Rev Gussie Grimes (clergyman) & his wife Nellie who raised money through bake sales & car wash services across town also contributed furniture items such as beds&chairs etcetera which were refurbished into homes over time continuing thru present day days by many families in our community who continue to keep our beautiful old town going

The National Guard is composed of volunteer soldiers from all over the United States who are called to duty by the President in times of national emergency or when there is a lack of qualified manpower in other branches of the military. There have been many different types and sizes of National Guardsmen throughout history. today, there are about 260,000 men and women serving in active duty with the National Guard. This number does not include reserves or guard units that are mobilized for short periods of time. There have also been many gifts given to members of the National Guard over time by individuals and groups interested in this unique branch of our country’s armed forces. One example is the “Golden Rule” poem written by Robert Frost in 1934 honoring guardsmen killed during World War I. This poem was given to representatives from each state at a patriotic dedication ceremony at Fort Worth Army Airfield shortly after their loss. Another gift was made to members of the New York State Guard following 9/11th anniversary ceremonies held at Madison Square Garden where thousands gathered to remember those lost in terrorist attacks that day. A large sculpture made out some 6 feet high and weighing more than two hundred pounds was donated by local businessman Edwin Saez which now stands outside One World Trade Center New York City’s Ground Zero site. In honor of fallen service members from both Iraq and Afghanistan, a model helicopter hangar built by American Helicopter Company was erected on Baghdad Airport walkway in 2006 as a symbol of support for troops fighting overseas.? Today, we continue to give back through donations from individuals and businesses alike as well as special events like national guard Constitutions Day which celebrates all aspects related to this unique branch of our country’s armed forces.?

Casselberry also played a significant role during World War II; both its military base (now known as Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst) and its port were key contributors to America's war effort. After the war ended, Casselbery experienced rapid growth; many new businesses came online including restaurants, hotels, and retail stores.
