Casselberry, Florida is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Casselberry is one of two towns in the area and together they form an unincorporated community that is also considered a ceremonial town by the local government. The land for Casselberry was granted to John Fenton in 1822. He laid out a platted village on what would become Casselberry Road and named it after his home country of Scotland, "Cassielborough". The first post office in Casselberry opened on July 2, 1825. The name change came about because there were only two residents living in the community at that time: Fenton and his wife Rebecca Cooks Fenton. Casselberry's emergence as a center of commerce began with Samuel Hixon opening his store on Main Street in 1829. By 1840, Hixon had developed into one of the leading merchants in town with his store occupying three buildings on Broad Street between Second and Third Streets. A second store was built on First Street just east of Battle Creek Road when Native American traders arrived from Canada looking for goods to sell during their annual trading trip through Central Florida. In 1841, Hixon sold all his holdings to Jno Dickson and moved to Mobile, Alabama where he became president of the Mobile & Ohio Railroad Company In 1850-51 Alexander McClure opened a grocery store next door to Hixon's store which soon became known as McClure's General Store No. 2 due to its size and variety of products offered by its four proprietors-Alexander McClure (the father), James McNulty (uncle), Hector McLarty (brother) and Cornelius Weems (son). In 1861-62 Elisha Sitton opened a general merchandise store across from McClure's which became known as Sitton's General Store No. 3 due to its large inventory and wide selection of items including cigars, whisky and other liquor products imported overland from Cuba or Mexico City during President Abraham Lincoln's last days in office before he was impeached On November 12th 1860 George Byron left for Union Army service abroad but neglected to send money back home for his family so upon return he took possession of Hudgins' Store located directly across from Sitton’sGeneralStoreNo3 which continued operations until 1862 when Byron finally sent word via letter that he could no longer continue business without prior arrangements having been made with Mr Sitton who then reopened Hudgins’ Store under new ownership . With this new addition several more stores followed suit until all but one closed within ten years with only Bryant & Caldwell remaining open until 1949 when they too folded up shop . One final note about these stores; while most were owned by men primarily responsible for running them such as Alexander McClure/James McNulty/Hector McLarty/Cornelius Weems etc., some were run by women such as Mrs Anne Bryant who operated Mrs Caldwell’s Emporium from 1865 thru1949

Casselberry is a small town in the state of Florida, located about 20 miles east of Tallahassee. The Casselberry post office was established in 1887, and remains in operation today. The community has experienced many different types of growth over the years, including an agricultural census population of only 102 in 1980; however, by 2002, the population had swollen to 2,993. The first settler in Casselberry was J.C. Hodge who arrived there on October 14th, 1887. At that time it consisted of just a few houses and a store which functioned as the primary gathering place for the local farmers. Over time Casselberry grew and developed into a thriving community with its own schools and churches. During World War II, residents made great contributions to the war effort by working on various military projects such as manufacturing ammunition or providing services such as ambulance transportation. In 1957 Casselberry became home to one of America’s first nuclear power plants when Tri-County Power Company built Plant No 1 on land donated by Mr. Edward Kappeler. Todaycasselberry continues to grow with development occurring throughout its rural area and downtown areas which include several large businesses including Ivey’s Department Store & Pharmacy (now JCPenney), Chick-fil-A restaurant/cafeteria, State Fairgrounds Casino & Racetrack (now DeLand Resort), Monroe County Courthouse (now courthouse annex), Masonic Lodge #527 & #528 (renamed “The American Legion Post” after being sold to CASSELLBERRY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC.), numerous small businesses and residences dating back to before World War II still standing today!
Casselberry is located in Broward County, Florida and is the most populous city in that county. The population of Casselberry was estimated to be over 120,000 as of 2010.
