The Clearwater Marina was founded in 1963 by Don and Bonnie Kapp. The first store, on the water side of the marina, sold only fresh seafood. In 1967, the first grocery store opened in Clearwater. The company has since grown to include a variety of retail stores and restaurants including several Publix Super Markets across Florida.
Clearwater is a small town in Brevard County, Florida, United States. The population was 7,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Sunrise Beach–Dunedin–Lake Worth metropolitan area. Clearwater is located on Clearwater Bay and is bordered by Dunedin to the south, Sunrise Beach to the east, Lake Worth to the north, and Sebastian to the northwest. The bay forms part of both rural and urban areas in Clearwater Township. The river that runs through Clearwater is called "Nashua" after Captain John Nashua who discovered it in 1793 while exploring Florida's interior for Spain. Nashua's group used it as a transportation route from Pensacola down the St Johns River into what today is Jacksonville. In 1836 Alexander Macon named it for Colonel Thomas Hargrave (1767-1835), captain of HMS "Oxford". In 1892 citrus growers established a citrus orchards around Clearwater that continue to this day; these orchards are now known as Citrus Heights Agricultural Complexes (CHACs). The name “Clearwater” was given by an early settler because of its clear water which allowed him see clearly whatever he threw overboard from his boat onto shore. In 1907 Tampa Electric Railway built a power plant on Point Comfort Island off Clearwater Bay and christened it “Clear Water”; however, station employees kept calling it “Tampa” until 1925 when they changed back to “Clear Water” with Headquarters at Station Pier 1 across from Harbor Security Pier 5 where TAMPA ELÉCTRICO served industry electric customers until 1992 In 1927 Tampa Electric Railway leased land along Dalhousie Street between US 1A and US 1B in downtown Tampa for their new Power Plant facilities; operations began there on October 12th 1927 under management of General Manager J C Whitehead On November 20th 1929 First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt visited Tampa Electric Railway headquarters during their Christmas Season tour which included stops at various stations including Point Comfort Island Power Plant where she participated in lighting of tree On January 15th 1930 President Franklin D Roosevelt visited Tampa Electric Railway Headquarters during his State trip to Orlando FL After leaving office he made another stop at Point Comfort Island Power Plant before returning home via Truman Bridge Incidentally this bridge was also destroyed by Hurricane Andrew but has since been rebuilt

Clearwater is a city in the state of Florida, located on the Gulf of Mexico. It is part of Jacksonville metropolitan area. Clearwater was founded on December 12, 1892 by J.M. Lovell and W.J. Gaines as a summer resort for wealthy Atlantans looking for a escapes from their cold winter homes. The first recorded use of Clearwater for fishing was in 1895 when Henry Flagler boats caught catfish thereabouts. The name "Clearwater" likely originated with the clear water that surrounded it then and still does today due to its access to the Gulf of Mexico and warm climate year-round. The growth of Clearwater began with its incorporation as a city on January 1, 1907. At that time, it had a population of just over 2,000 people and consisted mainly of residents who vacationed at Clearwater Beach or went fishing there during the summertime; however, development continued apace throughout World War I and II because new employment opportunities were available in those wartime years at war plants around Tampa Bay which then became known as "the black sites". In 1951, after more than fifty years in business as Clearwater's only grocery store (now defunct), grocer WFBCA bought out its competitor Big Red Grocery Store & Bakery chain (renamed Islamorada Market) which had been operating since 1922 inside what used to be the old Saginaw High School building next to First National Bank Building now home to Islamic Community Center; henceforth known simply as "WFBCA." In 1957 Clearwater annexed parts of Stonington Springs which included Hollis Island shoreline extending into Pinellas County proper until that point being within Stonington Springs Township while remaining within City Limits; this annexation also created new precincts within City Limits subject to apportionment by vote on an annual basis thereafter among all registered Voters therein regardless having previously resided therein prior thereto but voting therein nevertheless not generally required thereby making full participation contingent upon voter habitation thereby resulting in one precinct ever consisting solely or predominately (depending upon current count)of persons residing within City Limits limitssubjecting such precinct thereby to general election apportionment without Voter consent even though no special privileges were accorded such individuals hereinabove enumerated despite full knowledge thereof by these same individuals well aware both before & during Election Day procedures contemplated hereby governing Voting procedure HEREINbeforespecified
Clearwater is a city on the Gulf of Mexico, in Monroe County, Florida, United States. The population was 21,567 at the 2010 census. Clearwater was founded in 1892 by J.D. Polk and his wife Anna Webster as a small fishing village on the edge of what is now Pensacola Beach. It became an incorporated town in 1907 and was renamed Clearwater after its first mayor, James A. Clearwater Sr., in 1942 to honor then-Governor Keya Sanckey's donation of land for the city. In 1971, the state Legislature passed a bill HB 5986 which repealed all local ordinances that discriminated against gays or lesbians and required any municipality with a population over 10,000 to ordain ministers who officiated at gay weddings within six months of passage of the measure. On May 11, 1972 Mayor Tom Lawless publicly opposed this ordinance becoming effective because it would allow discrimination against homosexuals based on race or religion - setting off a national backlash that saw Clearwater become one of only five municipalities in Florida to pass resolutions opposing same-sex marriage (the others being Miami Beach,[3][4] West Palm Beach[5], Coral Gables[6], and Sunrise Village).[7] This anti-gay sentiment set off a series of controversies that continues to this day: In late 2006, when Mayor Lawless unsuccessfully applied for re-election due to high spending rates caused by lawsuits brought against him by gay rights advocates,[8][9] he cited "his record on sexual orientation" as one reason;[10] but later that year he clarified his position saying he does not support same-sex marriage but rather "equality between men and women".[11][12] On July 12th 2009 Clear Water voters approved Resolution No 938 which asks God's blessing upon theircity & susBCommunication
