The present-day Clermont area was first settled in 1851 by Germans and Irish immigrants who named their village "Klersontown" after their hometown of Klerksdorp, Netherlands. The name stuck and the community gradually grew until it became an organized township in 1907. In 1925, Clermont became one of six townships to be created from parts of Gainesville Township.

The first signs of this coming change can be found in literature and philosophy, where writers discussed the importance of coffee as a symbol of civilization. In 1786, French philosophe Voltaire noted that “coffee is not only a drink but also an art” and he prescribed its use as part of a more complete system of thought. This growing demand for quality coffee led to a shift in how coffee was produced. Prior to the mid 1800s, most beans were roasted by hand on farms in small villages around the world. However, with the development of large-scale plantations in Africa and South America, roasted beans became available at much lower prices and took on a different flavor profile. The first big break for artisan coffee came during World War II when American soldiers discovered that they could make good cup of joe while fighting overseas. This sparked an interest in coffee among civilians back home and soon artisanal roasters had become common throughout North America. By the early 1970s, major roasters had emerged across Europe and Asia who were beginning to specialize in specific coffees such as Ethiopian or Guatemalan Ayurveda Coffee. As technology improved, larger factories were able to roast more consistent quality beans than smaller farms could ever hope for so there has been little change over the years regarding taste or quality – making artisan coffee one of the most consistent types available on store shelves today.

Clermont is a small town in central Florida, located on the Clermont River. The population was 1,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sunshine City metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what is now Clermont was George Johnstone, who arrived in 1795. He and his wife, Ann (née Stephenson), built a log cabin on a bend in the river and named it Fort George after their father, also named George Johnstone. In 1807, Colonel James Wilkinson granted land to Mr. Johnstone for his military academy called "George Washington's School." The school operated from 1809 until 1816 when it was transferred to Jacksonville University. The village of Clermont began as two families living together near present day Clermont Road and US-1A west of the river mouth: The Adamses and the Potters. On November 2, 1800, they formed a partnership with twelve other white men to purchase 640 acres (250 hectares) of what is now downtown Clermont from Pedro Menendez de Cuellar for $2 per acre ($50 000 today). They laid out streets and built homes that still exist today including Main Street which runs through downtown; Bachelor's Walk (); Gadsden Avenue (); Indian Trail (); Dutch Alley (); Greek Rocks Boulevard (). With its location on the banks of a navigable tributary of the Kissimmee River – just upstream from where Orange County begins – Clermont quickly became an active commercial center due to its access to transportation links both by waterborne unimpeded by rapids or tall trees hindering navigation downstream – advantages that would later be lost as Orange County grew more populous and developed alternative means for getting around without transportation amenities downstream such as bridges or highways. A ferry service paddleboats transported agricultural goods downriver to citrus farms across Lake Okeechobee during winter months; this system continued into the 21st century when boat ramps were built at various points along both sides of I-4 corridor between Orlando and Kissimmee Rivers providing easy access across county lines for products exported southward via Highway 441/I-4 transition areas beyond those served by ferries during summer months’ operations
Clermont, Florida was founded in 1876 by J.W. Clermont and his wife, Emma. The first post office in Clermont was established in 1877. In 1914, the town of Clermont annexed the village of Orange Park to its boundaries. In 1959, the town of Belle Glade merged with Clermont to form a new municipality.
