Clermont, Florida is a small city located in Duval County, Florida, on the Gulf coast of the United States. It was first settled by German and Irish immigrants in the early 1800s. The town became known for its coffee beans, which were roasted in an old mill on the banks of the St. Johns River. In 1886, Clermont got its own coffee company called J.B. Lumber Company. The company was founded by John Burchill and his brother-in-law George Sherman. JB Lumber Company has been a major player in the industry since it started operations. The coffee industry underwent a dramatic transformation during World War II when demand for beans soared because of wartime production needs. Coffee beans were rationed but still sold at high prices due to their scarcity overseas.[1] After World War II ended, coffee production slowly began to decline as more people turned to other economic opportunities than buying beanbags from local roasters.[2] But recent trends suggest that coffee may be on track to experience another resurgence thanks to increasing awareness of its environmental benefits and growing interest among consumers in artisanal products made from sustainable resources such as organic and shade-grown coffees (see "Coffee: A Sustainable Resource")[3]. During Reconstruction Period (1868-1912), Clermont's population was around 2,000 residents; however, by 1920 it had increased to over 10,000 residents due largely to waves of German refugees who arrived following America's victory in World War I and also brought with them their taste for fine German black coffee.] By 1922 there were five roasting companies operating out of Clermont; two were owned by Germans or Germans living in America while three ran jointly by Americans and Europeans before being purchased by Germans again during Prohibition era until they were nationalized after repeal (see below). Clermont, Florida is a small city located in Polk County, Florida. The population was 3,868 at the 2010 census. Clermont is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Clermont was founded in 1894 by J.P. English and his wife Nellie Hargrave English as a small community on SECA property that they donated to the state of Florida for development into a resort town. In 1924, Clermont became a full-time municipality and included areas north of US 97 and east of I-4; this expansion increased its population by over 100%. In 1960, it annexed much of unincorporated territory to its borders. By 2000, it had reached its current size with 5 square miles (14 km²). The first post office in Clermont was established on December 12, 1893. The name changed to Englishville in 1896 after J.P.'s brother-in-law General David Ewart English moved from Liverpool, England to open a general store there with his own capital stock that financed the move himself and named the village after his sister Nellie (Nella) Hargraveenglish who had come over in 1887 with her husband John Hargrave from nearby Winter Haven as part of an immigration wave which also included such luminaries as Henry Flagler and James Buchanan Keyes Sr.. After American troops burned down parts of Winter Haven during World War II on December 7th 1945 local officials enacted emergency ordinances allowing any person within two blocks radius of the destroyed home or business whatsoever “to collect all articles lost or damaged therein since December 7th 1945” without giving prior notice or liability to anyone else inside or outside those boundaries; this ordinance helped start what would become known as “the war loss boom” which saw prices for homes increase by 50% immediately following Japan’s surrender on September 2nd 1945 while supplies ran out throughout most mainland United States including Clermont where nearly all stores were closed until well into 1946 due to lack thereof available fuel wood &binoculars! Hurricane Carol hit Clermont just weeks later making it one of several communities across Central Florida hardest hit when winds gusted up to 120 mph (195 km/h) resulting in significant damage especially along Airene Beach Road between Sabanquesta Boulevard & Indian Wells Boulevard! With few options remaining other than desperate selling & buying properties until 1949 homes started becoming available at bargain basement prices thanks mainly to efforts by then Mayor Harry Byrd who negotiated free land for development specifically near University Park Mall during WWII years before Claremore golf course was built adjacent thereto! In fact so much new housing was being built that some streets becameclogged up so early one resident suggested filling up some== big old tires he found lying around not long after opening night sky view from balcony railing looked out over busy intersection now filled with tall trees close enough for children to climb! WithoutMayor Harry Byrdnoneofthatwouldhave happened!! Today we have more amenities then ever before including world class shopping malls like University Park Mall plus top ranked colleges like USF&UCFBankhead Hills HS both located only minutes away!! Plus high quality schools such as Stonington College right next door Clermont has retained much if not all its historic character thereby ensuring continued growth while still maintaining many proud traditions dating back centuries including annual Christmas parade which features top notch talent featured every year along Santa Ana Street downtown followed by huge open air picnic featuring traditional southern food items enjoyed by generations past

Clermont, Florida is a small town located in Hillsborough County, Florida. The population was 5,014 at the 2010 census. Clermont was founded by J.P. Morgan in 1892 as a cattle and cotton plantation called "Hillsborough Plantation." In 1907, the name of the town was changed to honor General James A. Grant who served as Chief of Staff to Ulysses S. Grant during the American Civil War. In 1959, Clermont became a city after being approved by voters in a referendum. The mayor at that time was Clifford Davenport and Clermont's first Mayor was Wanda Coleman-Webb who also served from 1959-1972. After Coleman-Webb left office, Liliane Bourgeois took over as Mayor from 1972-1989 until her death in 1999. From1999-2003, John Fenton led the city government while it awaited annexation by Tampa which never happened because Tampa City Council felt that annexing would mean less money for Clermont coffers which would have forced Fenton to reduce services such as fire protection and police patrols which are conducted out of town on weekends when those activities would be taken over by Tampa City Police Department officers working out of theirHQ on George Street downtown instead of in Clermont's Pioneer Avenue Square where they currently reside Fenton resigned as Mayor due to health issues on November 1st 2003 after serving for one term with no interruption since he took office on December 12th 1999 On January 3rd 2004 annexation applications were filed with Hillsborough County for the city ofClarmon with an initial population target set at 10,000 residents However due to growth within Hillsborough County and changing demographics within the city itself there has been no formal opening date set for annexation yet On February 2nd 2004 just days before Stated Opening Date an application was submitted with Hillsborough County stating that 2 more wards had been added making the total population for annexation 11,812 residents On March 9th2004 plans were announced to add another ward making it 13,000 people This move sets off immediate uproar within the community as many feel that this will do nothing but dilute their vote against annexation considering they’ve already lost two wards without any increase in population
