Clermont, Florida is a small town in Citrus County, Florida. The population was 1,814 at the 2010 census. It is located on State Road 712 north of Orlando. Clermont has a history dating back to 1868 when Settlers from Illinois arrived and began trading with the natives in what is now Citrus County. A post office called Clermont was established in 1872, and remained in operation until 1907. In 1909, a community development corporation was formed to develop land east of Clermont into what would become Clermont Village. The first school in Clermont Township opened in 1927. In 1957, the township built its first high school which became known as Orange High School after it merged with neighboring Orlando High School. After years of growth and evolution within the township, the trustees voted to make Clermont an incorporated municipality on November 3rd of that year bylaw #3-7-1%. On September 30th of 2013 voters approved incorporation by referendum ballot measure 2 (I am unique). As part of this approval process, all government services were consolidated under one roof with new management and leadership appointed to manage all aspects of municipal life including but not limited to: city hall; water treatment; fire protection; zoning; parks & recreation; library; trash collection & recycling; emergency response services such as law enforcement and ambulance services; streetlights/street cleaning/paving/asphalt resurfacing/etc.; finance authority over assessment payments for special taxing districts (such as tax increment financing districts or property tax renewal districts); public works authority over maintenance projects such as road paving/repaving etc.; zoning authority over permitted uses such as churches or other religious organizations building no more than 50 feet2 inside their own lot without prior written consent from both organizations and either owner or occupier thereof... These powers are further delegated through resolution passed by both chambers on December 5th 2014 setting forth specific tasks for future committees charged with carrying out these delegation functions... This document also authorizes each committee member’s travel expenses during their assigned period of service…On January 11th 2015 I held my inaugural meeting which included Chairperson Mrs Linda Lagle(R) Vice Chairperson Mr Rick Knecht(D) Treasurer Ms Melody Dyer(D) Secretary Mrs Kimberly Cooksey(L) City Manager Mr Ryan Hinchey

Clermont is a small community located in central Brevard County, Florida. The population was 8,711 at the 2000 census. It has been called "the most beautiful town in Brevard County" for many years. The town was founded by entrepreneur and landowner Isaac Clermont in 1892. He named it after his home county of France, where he had married into a French-Canadian family. By 1912, Clermont had a post office, nine churches and eighty-five businesses. The town's growth stalled during World War I when the war cut off supplies of wood and other goods essential to its development. However, after the war ended, Clermont began to experience rapid growth as a result of its close proximity to Orlando and other major cities. In 1960, the town annexed neighboring unincorporated communities of Indian Rocks Beach and Belle Isle Garden City. In 2002, Clermont celebrated its centennial with an event that included concerts by several local bands as well as street fairs and fireworks displays atop Mount Pleasant Cemetery. As part of the celebration, the town also erected a plaque commemorating 100 years of progressivism in Brevard County
Clermont, Florida was founded by Captain John Clermont of the USS Constitution in 1837. The town was named for Captain Clermont's son, who had joined the army during the Seminole War. In 1847, the town passed through a boundary change from Indian Territory to Florida and became part of that state. In 1865, it passed through another boundary change to Lake County.
