The USAF's Air Force Museum in Cocoa, Florida preserves and displays a wide variety of military aircraft and equipment from all over the world. This museum also offers exhibits on history of air forces, air power, aerospace engineering, history of war, and more. The museum is open to the public from 9am to 5pm every day except for Thanksgiving Day. Admission is free for everyone who visits the museum. In 1941 the USAAF created its first fighter squadron at Homestead AFB in Homestead, Florida with P-38 Lightning fighters. In 1946 they replaced their P-39 Lightnings with F-94 Starfires which were then upgraded to F-100 Super Sabres in 1949. The following year they replaced their F-100s with F-15 Eagle Strike Eagles and finally Typhoon jets in 1951. In 1975 the USAAF merged with TacticalAir Command (TAC) which was itself formed by combining numerous subordinate units of TacticalAir Command (TAC) including Air Defense Command (ADC), Fighter Command (FC), Strategic Air Command (SAC), and bombardment command RAF Bomber Command (RAF). As part of this merger ADC became TacticalAir Control Authority while RAF Bomber Command became known as Air Forces Europe. On 1 October 1979 TAC activated its new headquarters at Osceola County Airport in Kissimmee, Florida renamed Aerospace Defense Commands Headquarters Allied Forces United States European COMMAND after Commander General John Halsey KNOX during his visit to Cocoa on 15 September 1978 followed by formal dedication on 16 September 1978 under Lt Colonel Don Armstrong USAF Chapel Chaplain Aide/Chief Historian USAF As a result of these changes Aerospace Defense Commands Headquarters Allied Forces United States European COMMAND was renamed "Air Force Museum Corporation" or "AMC" on 1 October 1979 effective until 31 December 1984 when it reverted back to "Air Force Museum Corporation". On 1 July 1990 AMC moved its headquarters from Kissimmee to MacDill AFB FL where it remains today as one wing withinthe Air Combat Command Directorate CENTCOM air warfare area commander responsibilities
The United States Air Force is one of the most powerful militaries in the world. It has over 1,500 military aircraft and more than 350,000 personnel. The USAF is responsible for defense of the US homeland and its allies, as well as providing air support to ground forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. In recent years, the USAF has made a significant investments in new technology and missile defense systems. One of these new programs is the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program. The F-35 is an American fighter jet that was designed to replace the Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon. The plane was initially designed for use by the USAF but it has been accepted by other countries such as Russia and France. The F-35 has many advantages over other fighter jets such as its low weight, large size, long range, good performance at high altitudes, and fast speed. By 2020, all US combat squadrons will have acquired at least one squadron of F-35s.
The USAF gift history in Cocoa, Florida dates back to 1947. The first military installation in the area, Naval Air Station Key West, was founded on December 8th, 1947. It was one of the first airfields in the Keys and it served as a training ground for pilots and other airmen until 1953. In that year, Naval Air Station Plantation became operational and it served as a base for fighter aircraft and bombers. Finally, on May 1st, 1954, Naval Air Station Cocoána was activated and it became home to America's only jet squadron-the Aircraft Maintenance hangar unit (AMU) Squadron 139-later known as "Aircraft Maintenance Squadron 3". On January 1st, 1957, Navy Group 5 activated at Cocoána with the arrival of Helicopter Squadron 4 (HS4). This squadron was responsible for providing helicopter support to all US naval commands operating in Cuba. In 1967 HS4 relocated to Manta Island where they operated until 1976 when they moved back to Cocoána. In 1978 YS-1B helicopters were delivered from Ondirka AB Slovakia by Cessna Aircraft Corporation and this marked the beginning of operations by Cocoa AFB with rotary wing aviation. The first fixed wing mission came about when HC-130H Hercules transports arrived from Hawaii on October 11th 1984 which flew sorties supporting Operation Demolition team pulling down destroyed homes during Hurricane Gilbert. In 1990 an addition to the airport came about when Marine Corps Aviation Detachment 2(MCAD2) arrived from Quantico Virginia Beach VA*. They would be based at Cocoána until 2005 when they were reassigned to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune NC*. MCAD2 detachment also conducted humanitarian relief operations following Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans ** Cocoa AFB has been active since 1947!
Cocoa, Florida is a small town located in central Florida. It is the county seat of Alachua County and has a population of around 60,000 people. Cocoa began as a Methodist Episcopal Church settlement in 1827. The town was founded on two large Seminole Indian hunting camps that were abandoned due to disease or war. The first post office was established in 1830, and the first store opened in 1836. In 1865, Cocoa became part of the United States when it was sold to Spain as part of the Spanish-American War. After World War I, Cocoa became an American military base for training new Soldiers and Marines. In 1937, Cocoas annexation by Florida made it the second largest city in Florida after Tampa Bay. Asociations such as The Chamber of Commerce have helped make Cocoa one of Floridas most successful towns since its incorporation into the state system in 1907
The United States Air Force (USAF) gift history stretches back more than two decades. The USAF was founded onMay 14, 1947 by President Harry S. Truman as the American military air arm of the United Nations. The USAF has always been a force to be reckoned with, both within and outside of NATO. In 1951, the USAF became operational and adopted its first insignia; a blue-and-white eagle clutching an olive branch in its talons. In 1957, the USAF adopted its current emblem: an enlarged blue-and-white comet pointing skyward flanked by white wingsspread outwards. On July 17th, 1991, Operation Desert Storm began when Saddam Hussein's Iraq invaded Kuwait and opened fire on Saudi forces defending Kuwait City; this is considered to be the first time that international hostilities were fought using aircraft from the USAF. Today, the USAF enjoys a fearsome reputation as one of America’s premiere military organizations – it is responsible for providing nearly 70% of all global combat airspace used in warfare! And like any great institution, there have been times when USAAF gift history has come into conflict with Pentagon policies and objectives – most famously during World War II when many USAAF planes were used in Nazi Germany against civilian targets (the Luftwaffe). However, overall these conflicts have tended to be resolved peacefully through negotiations between generals and brass at high levels in either agency. Nonetheless, some notable gifts from members of Congress to senior USAF leaders over time include: three Boeing 747 jets worth $162 million each; two F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets valued at $225 million each; four E-3C Sentry AWACS airborne warning and control aircraft valued at $175 million each; six Lockheed Martin C-5 Galaxy transport planes valued at $289 million each; eight Northrop Grumman MQ-4 Reaper unmanned aerial systems platforms (UAS) valued at $422 million each – all delivered between 2006 - 2009! And finally there is the recent donation of 12 F/A-18E Super Hornets worth an estimated total of $1 billion! All told, these gifts amount to more than $8 billion dollars over just 103 years! It’s no wonder then thatAir Force members have affectionately nicknamed their command “The Air Force Family”!

Cocoa, Florida is a town in Collier County, Florida, United States. The population was 3,887 at the 2010 census. Cocoa is part of the Naples-Marco Island Metropolitan Statistical Area. Cocoa was founded by George Washington Smith on October 17, 1837 as a citrus plantation near Fort Myers. Smith named his new place "Cocoa" after the Brazilian sugar cane crop he had seen in Europe while traveling in 1824-25. The first post office in Cocoa was established in 1840; it closed in 1944. The first to market and sell cocoa beans from these plantations were small farmers who grew their own trees and processed their own milk and butter for local consumption orexport to Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela and other Latin American countries during the 1830s and 1840s. In 1868 Isaac Fenton opened a grocery store on Bay Street called Fenton's Floridian which became one of the most successful early businesses in Orange County. By 1870 about 50% of all coconuts grown at various sugar estates were exported to Latin America including Cuba (where they were manufactured into candy) and Peru (where they formed part of an elaborate llama cheese export). By 1886 over 60% of all chocolate production came from this single industry with many small family farms still harvesting cocoa beans until well into the 20th century

The town rapidly grew and soon became the most important center for sugar cane production in Florida. Cocoa played an important role in the development of Florida's economy and culture, and is still an important community today.
