Air Force deployed gift history in Coconut Creek, Florida began with the air force stationed at Goodletts Field during World War II. From then on, the air force presence in Coconut Creek would continue through many years of service and deployments. The present day Air Force Base at Miramar is home to the 349th Airlift Wing which was activated on 1 October 1997 as part of the integration of Air Mobility Command’s European headquarters into Headquarters Allied Forces Europe (Hafemeister). The Wing provides globallift services for tenant commands and elements throughout NATO. In addition to its responsibilities within HAFE, the Wing flies transport missions from Incirlik AB, Turkey; RAF Brize Norton UK; Andersen AFB Guam; and Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland TX. The 349th Airlift Wing's first mission was providing humanitarian relief flights during Hurricane Andrew's landfall on Cuba in 1992. Since then, it has flown more than 2,000 missions including Operation Neptune's Spear – flying supplies to US troops fighting in Afghanistan – Operation Enduring Freedom – delivering cargo and passengers to support military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as numerous other assignments. In addition to its primary role of transporting goodsand passengers between USAF installations overseas and US bases here at home, the wing also provides essential logistical support for units conducting joint exercises or maneuvers around our region. With a total operating area that spans 604 square miles across three states: Florida, Texas and Georgia - it is no wonder that this squadron regularly partners with local authorities when necessary to make life easier for everyone living near an AFB!
The United States Air Force deployed a gift this year to the people of Iraq. The gifts, which are called "the aurora salute," show solidarity and appreciation for the United States military's support of Operation Inherent Resolve, the U.S.-led campaign against ISIS in Iraq and Syria. The program began on December 12th and will continue through January 2nd. Each aircraft carrying a message from Service members from around the world flew over Baghdad during Christmas Eve night in order to relay a message of peace, love, and gratitude to Iraqis who have faced such hardship. This year's special flight was made possible by contributions from members of the community in Baghdad as well as air force commanders stationed at Ramstein Air Base outside Münster, Germany. The contribution also included donations from individuals throughout the United States and Europe who wanted to show their support for our troops fighting in Iraq and Syria. The Aurora Salute is an annual event that displays unity among service members all over the globe by flying bombers over Baghdad during Christmas Eve night. This year’s mission was unique in that it was specifically aimed at highlighting how Iraqi citizens have faced great hardships while struggling against terrorism – something that we feel strongly about as Americans ourselves." The 1st Space Wing of the Florida Air National Guard deployed a gift history exhibit to Coconut Creek, Florida in celebration of the holidays. The exhibit features items from Squadron 43, the air force's oldest squadron. The gifts were donated by members of the squadron and are displayed in an old hangar on base.
Coconut Creek is a small town in Florida, located on the Gulf of Mexico. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami-Dade County metropolitan area. Coconut Creek is known for its white sand beaches, blue water and long stretches of undeveloped shoreline. Coconut Creek has been identified as one of "The miracles" by author Loren Coleman. The first Europeans to visit Coconut Creek were Spanish sailors who named it La Isla de Santa Catalina after their shipwreck off the coast of Cuba in 1513. In 1845, Major General Hernando de Soto led an expedition from Tampa Bay into what is now Panama and discovered what would become Coconut Creek when he landed his troops there in 1846. A year later, General James Kolkhorst arrived with a force to establish Fort Brooke on what is now Surfside Boulevard and Exposition Park Avenue near present day Castle Annex where he founded Stonington Landing on December 12th, 1850. After taking possession of Stonington Landing, Kolkhorst renamed it Fort Brooke which became The Settlement or Charleston Naval Station after South Carolina's first slave trading port at Charleston Harbour in 1740-1741 under British rule). In 1860s and 1870s many wealthy citizens from Tampa Bay moved to fortify their homes against Confederate attack during the American Civil War because they feared that Confederate forces might move downriver towards TampaBay should war break out between the United States (the Union) and Confederacy (the country that then included Florida). As a result, coconut trees began to grow along both sides of Mac Key Beach where Fort Brooke used to be located - providing fuel for fires until 1917 when all cannons were removed fromFort Brooke following changes in military strategy which aimed instead at liberating Cuba from Spanish control During World War II local businessmen donated land parcels called Boca Raton Stripes away from Ft Myers so that Palm Beach County could build Marjorie Island naval airbase there since Boca Raton had no suitable land anywhere else within easy driving distance for use by Navy pilots flying antisubmarine warfare missions over Havana Harbor In 1951 construction began on Cape Coral-based US Coast Guard station West Point Light House just west of today's Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton - becoming one of the first civilian installations established by US Coast Guard while stationed aboard a warship outside U.S waters On January 1st 1959 Coconut Creek attained city status with incorporation as a municipality within Miami-Dade County . On July 1st 1976 City Council voted 4-1 to annex neighboring unincorporated communities including Cutler Cove , Deerfield Beach and MidtownMiami which had all chosen not to join city government as districts but continue doing business as separate municipalities within Miami Dade County . This annexation created new businesses opportunities for these communities as well as expanding services currently available only insidecity limits . Coconut Creek is a town in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 21,776 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami metropolitan area. Coconut Creek is bordered by Coral Gables to the south and east, Kendallville to the north, and Miramar to the west. Coconut Creek was first settled in 1868 by men from Stonington, Connecticut who purchased land near present-day Coconut Creek Boulevard and Biscayne Boulevard for $1 an acre. They named their new community after coconut trees found on their property. The first store in Coconut Creek opened in 1870 and soon became a popular spot for people to buy groceries and supplies before traveling down Biscayne Boulevard to Miamisburg or South Miami. By 1888, there were 10 stores in Coconut Creek with a population of over 100 residents. The early growth of Coconut creek was due largely to its location: close to transportation options, including two train stations (Boulevard Station on Biscayne Boulevard and Indian Rocks Road), as well as major industry such as citrus production which continued until after World War II when it shifted focus to steel manufacturing In 1954, Governor Earl Warren announced that Coral Gables would be annexed into Broward County; however some opinion within Coconut creek favored keeping its own government separate In 1962 Plantation Drive was designation as a state highway bypassing downtown which increased traffic congestion on streets near Plantation Drive In 1966 plans were made for what would become known as “The Ol' Lady” shopping center development just off of State Road 517 but this project never came about because local commissioners felt that it would have negative impacts on commercial properties located within downtown . In 1969 construction began on what would become home of Champions Speedway – one of North America’s earliest high speed tracks – this also resulted in more traffic congestion around Race Street . Between 1970-1975 work began on Krome Park mall which would eventually replaced much of downtown with new housing . This project ultimately failed when planners discovered that the original site for Krome Park had been chosen without taking into consideration potential future development adjacent thereto
