Coconut Creek, Florida is a small town located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 10,827 at the 2010 census. Coconut Creek is known for its crystal clear waters and white sand beaches. The town has been called "The Virgin Islands of South Florida" because of the high concentrations of virgin coconut oil found there. Coconut Creek was founded on August 3rd, 1914 by William J. Daugherty as Daugherty's Caye d'Or Resort and Spa as a luxury spa for wealthy visitors travelling through Miami-Dade County. The resort grew into a major tourist destination with over 100 rooms, two pools, tennis courts, five restaurants and three bars in addition to the spa itself. In 1967, the resort was sold to developer David Sarnoff who renamed it Coral Bay condominiums and turned it into an exclusive real estate development that continues to this day. In 1978, Coral Bay was purchased by Hilton Hotels Corporation which turned it into one of the world's leading hotel brands with more than 1,500 properties worldwide including 350 in Latin America and Caribbean; 350 in Europe; 506 in North America; and 145 in Asia Pacific (including 1015 hotels inside China). In 2003 Hilton announced that it would sell its Asian operations to Shangri-LaHotels plc for $1 billion. As part of the sale agreement Shangri-La agreed to merge all its hospitality businesses within Hilton Worldwide except for Hong Kong operations which were kept separate under new company name Mandarin Oriental Holdings Limited (MRH). At year-end 2013 MRH had assets totaling $23 billion acrossisure properties around the world with approximately 2 million guests per month*. On November 17th 2006 Hurricane Wilma passed directly over Coconut Creek leaving deep damage throughout much of central Miami Beach including completed destruction on both sides of Key Biscayne Boulevard along most length of beachfront property from A1A southward to NE 95th Terrace eastward** Wilma also caused significant flooding along low lying areas primarily due to wave action however no fatalities were reported as a result of Wilma*

Coconut Creek is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,873 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Boca Raton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Coconut Creek was founded in 1892 by John Haggerty and his family as a citrus orchards on the hulls and pits of their vessel "Sandra". The name "Coconut Creek" originated from this fact. The first coconut plantation in Coconut Creek was established by David Bogue in 1893. By 1920, there were two plantations with an estimated production of 265 acres (130 hectares). In the early 21st century, only one continued to produce coconuts: that of José Gomez-González. In 1928, Mrs. John A. Haley purchased land east of Coconut creek for $1 million to develop it into an orange grove and citrus juice packing plant called Haley's Citrus Heights Plantation. After being acquired by Jardine-Haley Lines in 1957, Haley's Citrus Heights Plantation became one of its largest orange groves ever operated before its closure in 1978 due to becoming too expensive to maintain and compete with larger companies such as Cargill Incorporated (now Monsanto). Today most of these properties are still used for oranges but there are also some homes on main street including one built by original owner Mr Toney who donated it to the town after his death in 1984 There are also several small businesses located along Main Street which offer agricultural goods like eggs and milk from cows on site or local produce from growers out back
Coconut Creek, Florida was founded in 1824 by Captain John C. Stroud and his wife Anna Maria. The first store in Coconut Creek was built on Government Street. In 1865, a post office was established at Coconut Grove and the town became known as "Coconut Creek." In 1889, coconut oil was discovered in Coconut Creek and the town became its business center for the production of this product.
