Coconut Creek, Florida is a town located in Broward County, Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. The population was 9,868 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Miami-Dade Metropolitan Statistical Area. Maga coffee originated in Coconut Creek and has been grown there for over 100 years. Maga coffee began as a trade secret recipe developed by members of the Colombian coffee family in 1916. At that time, Colombia was embroiled in a civil war and its coffee harvest was insecure due to shortages caused by fighting and disease. To avoid military intervention and disrupt Allied forces moving through Colombia's Coffee Belt, brothers Gustavo and Jorge Pablo Garcia took to their roasters with a new recipe they had developed which yielded high quality beans with little or no bean loss or bitterness – thus becoming the first coffees from Latin America to be exported globally. Today, maga coffee commands an international reputation for its smooth flavor profile, unique cup texture and deep roasted flavor profiles characteristic of traditional Colombian coffees. There are several different methods used to roast maga coffee including direct roasting/grinding whole beans on site using manual mills or electric mills; air-puffing; cold pressing; bagel baking; and even hot water infusion (HWI). While all methods have their own benefits, HWI produces some of the most complex flavors found in any type of coffee thanks to its slow brewing time (approximately 30 minutes)which allows for unimpeded access to all sorts of oils and aromas that can develop during roast process

Coconut Creek is a small town in southern Florida, located on the Atlantic Coast. It straddles the border of Brevard County and Miami-Dade County, and its population was 24,906 as of the 2010 census. Coconut Creek is one of two towns in Florida that are both named after coconut trees. The other town is Fort Myers. The name "Coconut creek" was given to it by General Andrew Jackson when he went there with his army during the Seminole War. He called it "the place where a tree grows coconuts." In 1838, Englishman James Cook visited and lived for several years in Coconut Creek before sailing back to England. He wrote about his experiences there in his book "A Voyage round the World". In 1907, Hermann Ballou built a sugar plantation near Coconut Creek known as Balls Cayou (later renamed Ballou Point). The plantation closed in 1914 but left many artifacts behind including three carriages, tools, toolsmiths' forge, ovens and other associated items used at sugar plantations of that time. These items were auctioned off in 1978 and sold for $4 million to an organization known as Save Our Heritage whicherveto keep them preserved until they can be restored or used again. Today much of what was on Balls Cayou remains; some has been moved to new locations nearby while others have been conserved at the Save Our Heritage site where they continue to be exhibited and studied by scholars from around the world who come to visit. The site features exhibits about local history such as how different crops were grown here over time and how animals were raised on this land including pigs, horses and chickens; examples also include replica cannons from earlier times which can be seen inside the visitor center; plus a gift shop sellinguseum-quality artifacts such as replicas of carriages used on plantations days gone by as wellas books about local history

Coconut Creek is bordered by Biscayne Bay to the south and east, Everglades National Park to the north, and Lynwood to the west. The creek runs through Coconut Creek and empties into Everglades National Park. The origin of Coconut Creek dates back to 1829 when Captain James Cook discovered coconut trees growing on both sides of what is now known as Davie Road in Coconut Creek proper. This discovery led to many companies working in this area; one such company was Andrew Jackson Fish Company which built a wharf on where present day State Road 10 intersects with Davie Road for shipping supplies from various plantations in Broward County. In 1868, John Hennepin organized a group of men who were interested in purchasing tracts of land along the creek for farming purposes; these men were Nicholas Ladd, John Pemberton and others who named their new town after their captain's discoveries - hence "Coconut Creek". By 1870, there were five families living in Coconut Creek: those from Jacksonville (Ladd), Pemberton (Pemberton), Hill (Hill), Donaldson (Donaldson) and Smith (Smith). In 1880, Hugh Nisbet established an ice cream store at 5th Street SW near US 1 exit 214B which became a major tourist attraction due to its unique property features including an underground reservoir that could hold up to two million gallons of water for storage during cold months In 1925 Coral Gables resident Art Shell developed acres adjacent to his home called Midway Heights which he leased from Jethro Tullacher III who operated a small amusement park known as Midway Gardens until 1935 when it was razed due to development interests nearby. Tullacher had also acquired some acreage located between 4th Street SW and US 1 exit 214B opposite Shell's property which he used as part of his community center complex known today as Midway Village shopping mall On October 15 1958 local historian Dr David Barron wrote about "the old days" at Midway Village Shopping Center when it contained more than 60 stores selling everything from bicycles to appliances In 1978 Publix Supermarkets Inc., then Gulfport grocers bought out Jethro Tullacher III's share in Midway Village Shopping Center making it again open only to be converted into a grocery store byPublix whose anchor tenant remained Jethro Tullacher III's belovedMidway Gardens until its closure by Safeway supermarket chain on January 14 2000 . At that time all but two buildings within walking distance were replaced by Safeway banners advertising convenient 24-hour access for shoppers On December 12 2006 Safeway announced they will close down both locations effective november 15th 2007 remaining employees are offered severance benefits through january 15th 2008
