Airforce gift history in Cooper City, Florida began with the purchase of a hangar and auxiliary building by Major General Edward H. “Ed” A. Sutherland in 1949. The first fighter aircraft were stored at this site until 1955 when they were moved to Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. In 1957 the USAF activated its own airbase located on Cooper City property which became known as Dyess AFB. From Dyess AFB, the USAF conducted combat operations against insurgents in Southeast Asia during the 1960s and 1970s. In 1987, major General Michael D. Wynne purchased the airport from the United States Air Force for $3 million and renamed it Wiley Post Airport in honor of his predecessor as Commander USAF-Cooper City/Eglin AFB Director of Pilot Training who had also served as Mayor of Cooper City from 1971-1975. During my tenure as Mayor I doubled the size of our airport including an expansion of runway 4L which continues to be used today by both commercial airlines and military aviation services alike despite some sharp competition from neighboring Miami Beach Airport which has since been upgraded to a full general aviation airport status! Today, Wiley Post Airport is home to two large military airfields: TinkerAFB and WhitemanAFB both support aerial refueling missions providing fuel for warplanes while also hosting various other types of aircraft operations such as fly-ins/takeoffs/landings (FliGt), spectator events (HazMat), command post exercises (CopeAer), environmental education programs (EEP) & more! It is also host to a variety of small community venues that are used for events such as family reunions, fireworks displays, Fourth Of July cookouts etcetera! What makes Wiley Post so special? The Air Force gift history in Cooper City, Florida began with the incorporation of the Cooper City AAF on October 1, 1948. The air force was then known as the Florida Air National Guard and it was here that General James E. Arnold founded theAAF. On December 1, 1948, the first bomber squadron was activated at Cooper City AAF and became part of AFNORAD. In 1958, AFB Laughlin became an annex to AFB Cooper City and also hosted a wing headquarters for all of central Florida. In 1969-1970 two tornado shelters were built adjacent to each other at AFB Laughlin which are still in use today. In 1990 three squadrons were activated at AFB Laughlin - one fighter squadron (F-16), one bomber squadron (B-2) and one reconnaissance squadron (RCA-5). On February 6, 1993 support Squadron 134 relinquished their jurisdiction over FSUWX operations from USAF Robins AFB due to budget cuts within DoD; however FSUWX remains a tenant organization of USAF Robins until this day. On July 15th 1994 an experimental unit designated WOAC-8 was activated at CFB Lockhart TX as a result of joint USAF/USN/USAFE directive 5704(94) which called for experimentation with advanced aircraft weapons systems directed against ground targets by US Army Forces Command elements operating worldwide while supporting DoD missions only when authorized by commanders commanding these elements during specific wartime hours or periods designated by local DOD commander.
Cooper City is a city located in Sarasota County, Florida, United States. The population was 104,838 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in Sarasota County after Bradenton and is the seat of government for Cooper City Township. The name "Cooper City" was given to it by one of its founders, Wm. H. Cooper Jr., who purchased land in 1887 and founded the town on what is now State Road 7 about 8 miles west of downtown Sarasota on a peninsula formed by mangroves and sugarcane fields on an estuary of the Manatee River. The first post office in Cooper City was established in 1886, and until 1907 it had been known as Indian Harbour. In 1907, it changed its name to Cooper City after Wm. H. Cooper Jr., founder of the town and namesake of nearby Clearwater Beach

Cooper City is located in Miami-Dade County, Florida on the border of Miami and Palm Beach. The population was 49,515 at the 2010 census. Cooper City has a rich history dating back to 1894 when it was founded as a small town by American businessmen John A. Cooley and Harry W. Hagerty. In 1924, Cooper City became one of two rural communities in Miami-Dade County to be incorporated as a city under the leadership of Mayor George Scherrer. In 1959, Cooper City was chosen by voters to become the official seat of government for the newly created Collier County. The city’s growth continued through the years with additions of new schools and businesses until it reached its current size in 2003 when it annexed land from nearby unincorporated areas including Cutler Park and Garden Hills. The history of Cooper City begins with John A. Cooley who arrived in 1894 as part of an American business delegation that landed at Key West following President Cleveland’s inauguration four years earlier. He purchased 1,200 acres (50 hectares) of land east of what is now known as Bay Boulevard near today’s intersection of Northwest First Street and Northwest Second Avenue for $1 per acre (0.20 hectare). This purchase allowed him to begin development on what would eventually become Cooper City – then known simply as “the Strip". In 1924, Mayor George Scherrer initiated plans to incorporate Cooper City into Miami-Dade County after encountering resistance from some residents who believed their town would continueexisting independently within Miami-Dade without its own government representation or resources available to it – something that had never happened before in county history! After much discussion and debate between Mayor Scherrer, city council members, Active Citizens Committee members and other citizens involved in developing CooperCity – all objections were removed from consideration upon ratification by voters during a special election held on November 3rd., 1924! From this day forward, everyone associated with creatingCooperCity began calling themselves “The Founders”! Over time, many new businesses were added to CooperCity such as The Biltmore Hotel & Casino which opened its doors in 1966 followed by The Thomas Crowne Plaza hotel which opened its doors in 1969; both developments are still operational today! Additionally, numerous schools have been built throughout the years with Roosevelt High School being built in 1965 followed by Kendall Middle School & high school swiftly following suit; these institutions remain operational today providing instruction for students from prekindergarten through 12th grade! Finally, community events such as Ribfest have been hosted regularly throughout the years commemoration various aspects relatedto local culture & cuisine! Overall, these various entities have helped contribute significantlyto current day CooperCity status quo - one which remains largely unchanged since 24th century inception!!!
