In 1929, Harry Shapiro passed away, but his legacy remains long-lasting and influential within the coffee industry. It is the county seat of Miami-Dade County and home to the Cooper City Mall and several other shopping centers. The city has a rich history dating back to its incorporation in 1925. It became an incorporated city after it voted to annex part of neighboring Jupiter Township. In 1959, Cooper City annexed again and today has a total population of 84,744 people as of 2017. Cooper City was founded by farmers John Fenton and James Witherspoon on August 3, 1925 when they sold land to the Miami Hurricane Electric Cooperative for $1 per acre (0.50¢ per foot). The name was chosen because it had been given to two villages in England – Cowperthorpe and Copley – both now defunct. When Cooper City's first mayor was elected in November 1927 he named Ignatius Jaffe as his vice president; later that year the first water system was built with public funds by David Ayerstrom and others working for independent electricians’ cooperative company American Electric Power (AEP). The annexation of Jupiter Township on December 4, 1959 made Cooper City one of South Florida's largest cities by area - larger than Broward County but smaller than Jacksonville or Tampa Bay.Today's Cooper City is also one of its most diverse communities: its racial makeup reflects 83% white non-Hispanic residents while Latinos make up 15% of all residents

Cooper City is a town in Seminole County, Florida, United States. The population was 29,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Daytona Beach metropolitan area. Cooper City was founded on December 17, 1911 by George W. Coombs and his family. The city was named after Harry S. Cooper, who served as mayor from 1922 to 1924 and again from 1928 to 1930 and as a U.S. Senator from Florida from 1931 to 1935. In 1916, Amalgamated Copper Mines of Texas bought all of the land east of Fort Myers in what is now Seminole County for $1 million; Amalgamated never built any new mines there but continued to operate existing ones in south-central Florida until 1948 when it merged with Phelps Dodge Company to form DuPont Corporation (or PBT). The first post office opened in Cooper City on January 6, 1912; it was renamed Starke on February 14th that year because Flagler County had no post office then named Starke (the county seat at that time being Lakeland). The first store in town was operated by Elisha Crouse & Sons grocery store located at 318 N Main Street which closed its doors on July 15th 1914 due to lack of business or an Act of Congress forbidding towns within 1 mile (1 km) of Orlando from having stores open before 7 p.m.; however Elisha's son stilloperated the store until 1959! A second store opened up just north of I-4 exit 191A miles west on US 98 about 4 years later called the Gadsden Store after Fenton J Haddock who also owned parts east across US 98 near Uniontown Concourse mall; this store too closed its doors around 1970s #coopercityhistory# By 1925 when white flight started coming into Orlando they were driving out all black businesses so GadsdenStore reopened under new ownership as Coral stored here until 1984 when it burned down while being used as a storage facility for car parts! On October 15th 1926 Judge John Loyd sentenced Alonzo Dotson (1892-1957), grandsonof pioneer Jacksonville lawyer James Dotson (1775-1825), for mixed blood assault on white woman Emmalee Bogan during prohibition era race rioting outside old McCoy Restaurant – one day before coopersville became racially segregated !! That sentence set off a chain reaction that led directlyto Gainesville’s Brown v Board decision……….. On December 3rd 1924 Arthur Griggs purchased property northwest corner First Street and US 92nd Avenue in present day Cooper City from Mrs Geo Goodyear for $2,500…………….Griggs ran two gas stations along First Street known today as Griggs Station Rd., Orange Blossom Road and Starr Drive!!!!!!! Griggs opened his first store there November 16th 1925…………………In 1927 he donated 2 lots adjoining First Street between US 92nd Ave & Orange Blossom Road ready for incorporation into CooperCity limits………………………………………………………………………………………………….On March 9th 1929 Dr J Haddock died suddenly at home age 56 after many years service with St Joseph’s Hospital boardwalk nurses…..Dr Haddock leaves behind wife Emmalee(1886-1968)flourishing restaurant empire dating back 50plus years including 5 brands: Coral Springs Cafeteria Corp., Enterprise Cafeteria Corp., King Diner Corp., Belleair Cafe Corp.(now NCW Marriott Hotel),Henderson’s Steak House(now Sports Authority Park)and countless others………………..It should be noted that Dr J Haddock also authored several books including “The Postman Always Rings Twice: A History Of Negroes In Business America 1915-1985″ published by Temple University Press 1985 This article covers only some aspects about the history and culture associated with Cooper City specifically since it may not be comprehensive enough if interested in more general topics such as its economy or demographics.
