Additionally, there is a Military Police detachment located within Headquarters & Services Company of the Coopersville Volunteer Fire Department which provides law enforcement resources to local communities across various issues such as public drunkenness or burglaries. Cooper City is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. The population was 26,386 at the 2010 census. Cooper City is part of the Miami metropolitan area. It is one of the most affluent cities in South Florida and its economy revolves around retail, professional services and education. The name "Cooper City" comes from John A. Cooper who founded the town in 1881 as a post office on what is now Sunrise Boulevard. In 1925, Cooper City became an incorporated city after it was annexed by Fort Lauderdale. The first mayor of Cooper City was Wanda Hunt-Negron. In 1985, Hurricane Andrew destroyed much of downtown Fort Lauderdale and parts of neighboring Miami Beach; Cooper City escaped most damage but its citizens were forced to evacuate their homes for several days while repair work continued aboveground. As a result of this event, cooper city saw an influx of businesses and professionals who wanted to move to safer areas outside the hurricane's reach. The National Guard has a long and varied history. The first national guard units were organized in 1792 when the Second Continental Congress created a Military District of New York. In 1802, the Military District was divided into two districts, the Western District and the Eastern District. The Western District was renamed the 1st New York Regiment of Militia and assigned to take part in the War of 1812. In 1861, during the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln called for an all-encompassing army to protect America’s southern border. He called for 10,000 men from across America to form a national guard unit known as “the 15thNY Infantry Regiment” which would serve under General Ulysses S. Grant until 1863 when it was redesignated as the 2nd New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment (later changes back again) because it had been raised in NY City only). During World War I, there were also calls for a national guard unit but these never materialized due to lack of funds. After World War I ended in 1918, most of these units were disbanded or reassigned to other capacities such as police forces or naval militia services. However, one unit that survived into modern times is the United States Coast Guard Reserve - formed on June 6th 1941 through an act of Congress known as Grafton Act No. 7 (5 USC § 801). The Coast Guard Reserve can be mobilized up to 90 days after a declaration by either President or Congress declaring war or an emergency situation exists outside normal military recruitment limitations; this happened on September 11th 2001 with 9/11 attacks (see below). The creation of the National Guard has been tied closely with wartime mobilization efforts throughout American history. One example is during World War II when President Franklin D Roosevelt authorized 3 million troops nationwide including 400 thousand soldiers in National Guardsmen being mobilized for duty overseas (See Roosevelt Executive Order 10634 ). This move signaled that Americans wanted their own version of what became known as “the GI Bill” which would provide benefits such as education and job opportunities to returning servicemen and women (See Roosevelt Executive Order 10996 ). Additionally, during WWI there was pressure from various sectors such as labor unions who saw potential members within state militias being used against them by government employers ( See Forney v Garner 322 US 516 ; see also California Labor Relations Authority v Garvin 317 US 471 ). These organizations lobbied hard for passage of legislation calling for automatic enlistment into militias without any guarantee of employment following discharge from service; this eventually led to passage of Service Draft Law No. 93-575 on July 16th 1943 which stated that all discharged military personnel could re-enlist if they satisfied certain qualifications including service in any unauthorized militia organization within 30 days before discharge) . A related issue surrounding mobilization occurred during WWII with respect to women who had served prior to becomingmilitia members; certain states refusedto enrollfemale veterans while others did so albeit at a lower rate than men due largely due political correctness at that time (. See Mildred Carney v MacArthur 346 US 339 ; see also Woman’s Defense League v United States 342 F2d 455 .) Nonetheless, many women entered militaries even though they were not guaranteed employment upon return home ().
