Cooper City was founded on November 9, 1925 by Dutch immigrant Pieter Janssen and his wife Esther. The name "Cooper City" is derived from the cornfield that Janssen and his wife plowed as their farmsteads grew. The first post office in Cooper City was established on October 11, 1926. At its peak, Cooper City had a population of 2,500 people. In 1957, Cooper City annexed neighboring unincorporated neighborhoods of Westchester and North Miami Beach to form a single municipality with a total population of 8,500 residents. By 1988, when the city limits were revised to encompass all of Miami-Dade County proper (including Brickell), Cooper City's population had reached 20,000 residents; however it has never exceeded 250000 since then due to growth withinMiami-Dade County itself as well as other municipalities located in southern Dade County which have grown much more rapidly than Cooper City over that time period

Cooper City was founded in 1916 and incorporated as a city in 1928. The name "Cooper City" comes from John Witherspoon's donation of land to the town on which it now stands. The town was named for Colonel James A. Cooper, who donated $1 million to help finance the founding of Dallas-Fort Worth by then-governor Sam Houston. In 1927, when Fort Worth became an independent city, Cooper City became its official municipal center. In 1930, a fire destroyed most of downtown Cooper City and forced the evacuation of many residents; however, firefighters did not let that stop them from rebuilding until they completed it within two years using materials brought over from downtownDallas! This example shows just how hard working citizens can be when faced with adversity! In 1933 local businessmen Harry Langston (founder and president of Longhorn Steak House) and Earle McIntyre (founder and vice president of Gulf Coast Airways) decided to form a group to develop aviation opportunities in Collin County; this group would become known as "The Air Club". With Langston's help and McIntyre's guidance, The Air Club soon developed some very successful aviation ventures including Republic Airlines which began service out of Dallas/Fort Worth Airport in 1937; Delta Air Lines began flights into Dallas/Fort Worth Airport in 1941; and Garland Aviation opened its first hangar at The Air Club on Commerce Street just east of I-635 on November 5th 1946 – making it one of only four airports nationally served by instrument air travel! A few years later things started happening quickly for Cooper City as businesses started popping up all over the place: Barber Shop & Hairdresser were born in 1951 while Camera store arrived six years later followed by several more businesses such as Lumberjacks Props & Gents 1945 - present day KFC restaurant 1963 - JCPenney 1966 - Red Lobster 1983 - current COOPER CITY SPORTS BAR
