The Air Force deployed gift history to Coral Gables, Florida in 1969. The gift history at the base began with a service club for enlisted airmen and their families. In 1970, the base started providing a special program called "Gift of Honor." This program was designed to recognize members of the military who have rendered extraordinary services to their country. From 1971-1973, the Air Force also created an exhibit hall called "The American Soldier" which showcased donated items from member's local communities. In 1974, the Air Force established another gift history program called "Gift of Life." This program was designed to provide financial assistance and opportunities for individuals experiencing homelessness or poverty. From 1975-1981, the Air Force also created an exhibit hall called "The American Warrior II" which showcased donated items from member's local communities. In 1982, the Air Force discontinued its gift history programs. However, it continued to maintain a memorabilia collection on site which is now open to public visitation.

Coral Gables is a town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 25,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Ft. Lauderdale–West Palm Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. Coral Gables is bordered by Hollywood on the south and east, Boca Raton to the north, Pompano Beach to the west and Wilton Park to the northwest. The name "Coral Gables" comes from two sources: one said that it was given to them by Anegada Key settlers who named their island after a white coral tree (Gables) which had been growing on their island for years; and another source says that developer Harry Wright purchased some sugarcane fields in 1903 and named them "Coral Gables", based on his observation of white coral trees near where he was going to build his home. In 1924, Harry Wright's son-in-law, Harry J. Selvin bought some additional land from Don Siegel along Broward Boulevard in what would become Coral Gables; this land became known as Selvin Gardens. In 1935, Wilfred Ewing bought 400 acres (160 hectares) of Coconut Grove from John Denton for $2 million dollars This purchase increased Coral Gables' boundaries because most of Coconut Grove now lies within its borders on North Biscayne Boulevard between SW 1st Avenue and SW 102nd Street while still remaining within city limits on South Broward Boulevard between Sunrise Highway and US 1st Avenue
The USAF deployed gift history during the Vietnam War. The gift history was begun in 1967 when Lieutenant Colonel John F. Kennedy gave a gift to the Air Force Academy, which became known as the "Kerry-O-Gift." In 1969, General Creighton Abrams gifted a rifle and ammunition to the USAF Academy. The gift history continued with gifts from Generals George Casey and William Westmoreland in 1977 and 1985 respectively. In 1992, General Colin Powell presented a Humvee commander's armor outfit to the USAF Academy. The Gifts of Honor were given to Major General Jack Keane in 2006 and Colonel Robert Gates in 2007. In 2013, US Congressman Joe Wilson presented a military helicopter with an engine mount to the USAF Academy for use as a flying museum exhibit. The present day is represented by two new gifts--the M1A3 Abrams tank and Bradley Fighting Vehicle--which were presented by Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel on December 3rd, 2014 at Fort Bragg NC. These gifts will help improve infantry capabilities within NATO while also bolstering ties between our United StatesMilitary partners around the world who share similar values of democracy, freedom, security and opportunity

Coral Gables is a town in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The population was 8,500 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–West Palm Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area. Coral Gables was founded as a plantation in 1835 by Edward Cady and his wife Mary Todd Lincoln Cady. The name "Coral Gables" derives from its natural understory of coral trees and their deep water dunes which made it difficult for enemy warships to approach. In 1916, President Wilson declared the town civic center after prohibition had been repealed in Florida. The first store in Coral Gables opened on December 12, 1915 on Second Street between Tamiami Trail and Biscayne Boulevard. Wm Jernigan manufactured radios there until 1922 when he moved to West Palm Beach and started his own company. Other early businesses include A&P grocery store (opened 1936), Pompano's Restaurant (opened 1942), Cafe Paradiso (opened 1959) and Starlite Lounge (opened 1971). In 1961, Coral Gables incorporated as a village with a population of 553 residents; this number dropped to 451 in 1997 but rose to 575 by 2000 due to the influx of new residents from neighbouring towns such as Coconut Creek and Everglades City. In 1966, Diller played an important role in helping create the city's first zoning ordinance that limited growth within limits established around Mosley Park Quarry which served as the site for Mar-a-Lago Club since 1927; this helped limit development near US 1A east of Kennedy Drive while allowing future development along US 1A west of Central Avenue including Mariotti’s Pizza restaurant which opened in 1984 adjacent to Marlins Stadium; currently known as SunTrust Park – home of the Florida Marlins baseball team. In 1970 following passage of Senate Bill 4562 authored by Senator Everett Dirksen tidal waves destroyed most buildings on Long Key Island causing $100 million worth of damage including homes, churches, schools and factories leaving only two small coves remaining above high tide levels where villages once thrived: Emerald Isle located off State Road 10E between mile marker 185N - 185W & mile marker 186N - 186W remains today with easy access via boat or car ferry ride from State Road 10E; while Deepwater Cove located just south of mile marker 184NW & mile marker 187NW still has accessible land below high tide levels making it an ideal spot for fishing & swimming; both are popular activities today thanks to restoration work done by volunteer groups over many years starting with Hurricane Andrew which struck weeks earlier killing all but one person on Deepwater Cove
