Coral Gables is a city located in Miami-Dade County, Florida. It was founded on December 15, 1925 by Dr. James S. Fowler and his wife, Nellie Mae Fowler. The city has a population of over 60,000 people and is the home to the University of Miami and its associated research institutions as well as several large commercial businesses. From 1998 until 2002, UM was responsible for one of the largest marine gift projects ever undertaken in Florida when it donated more than $25 million to help renovate various local waterways – most notably the Biscayne Bayou system – as part of UM’s “Miami South Bay” campaign.[1] In addition to giving back to their community with this type of donation; UM also helped create new jobs throughout the process while providing much needed cultural experiences for area students and residents alike. Now that UM has officially transitioned into its third decade since its inception (the school currently enrolls over 1400 undergraduate students), it is important that they continue making a positive impact on both the academic environment within their school as well as in terms of overall community engagement through their charitable donations and initiatives such as “Miami South Bay” campaign which seeks to improve water quality across much of south central Florida[2]. While there are many other schools who can lay claim to having contributed significantly to Coral Gables over these past few decades – from Little Havana on down – it is truly noteworthy that UM has made such an impact not only domestically but also internationally through their philanthropic efforts both here at home and abroad!

Coral Gables is a city located in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. It was named after the coral reefs that line its shores. The population of Coral Gables was 21,813 as of the 2010 census. The city is bordered to the south by Miami Beach and to the west by Boca Raton. The first settlers in what is now Coral Gables were French Huguenots who built their homes on land that now forms part of downtown Miami. In 1837, British troops burned down several homes in what is now Coral Gables for being unpatriotic. However, this did not dissuade other English-speaking settlers from coming to the area and building homes around what is today Coconut Grove Cemetery and Flagler Street. By 1892, the population of Coral Gables had reached 25 thousand people and it became an incorporated town with its own government under a mayor/council system. A new shopping center was built at Seventh Avenue and NW 32nd Streets in 1962 which helped increase business activity within Coral Gables limits while also creating some new neighborhoods such as Sunrise Gardens to the north and Northwest Side to the south (later renamed “Coral Beach”). In 1990, Hurricane Andrew destroyed most of downtownMiami including much of Coral Gables leaving many families homeless for weeks or even months on end before they could rebuild* (*See photos below). With no real housing options available aside from camps set up near schools or churches across South Beach), many residents turned to recreational activities which included boating, sunbathing and swimming in one of South Beach’s largest manmade lakes; Bayfront Park*. Coral Gables, Florida is a census-designated place in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The population was 5,852 at the 2010 census. Coral Gables is located on the southernmost tip of Miami-Dade County and shares borders with Little Haiti to the east and Biscayne Bay to the west. It was once an agricultural community that now consists of high-rise condominiums and apartments. The name "Coral Gables" first appeared on a map in 1885. At that time it consisted of only two homes: one owned by Captain John A. Stroud and one rented from Mrs. Cady Stanton by her husband, Commodore George Armstrong Stanton (1814-1892). In 1886 the developer Ladd Company bought all of what is now Coral Gables from Captain Stroud for $1,000 cash plus five acres (20,000 m²) of swampy land for $6 per acre ($/ha). When Coral Gables became a municipality in 1907 it had 753 residents. By 1920 it had increased to 1,514 residents due to annexation of nearby Biscayne Bay Village which had been founded in 1906 as part of plans for a new city made up largely of luxury housing projects called "The Lakes". In 1922 Wilbur Wright flew his first commercial airplane over Miami when he took off from runway 9 at Northwest Field; this event marks the beginning of modern air travel in Miami-Dade County. The following year Major General Billy Mitchell stopped traffic during a campaign rally at Sun Life Stadium while en route to visit General MacArthur's headquarters in Tampa; this event helped end World War II in Asia while also establishing United States ground forces presence throughout Southeast Asia strongholds such as Singapore and Thailand
