The United States Navy deployed gift giving to the people of Coral Gables, FL in 1942. The first indication that the USN was sending military personnel and materiel to the area was when a small camp was set up on a small island in the bay. This is where members of the USN’s Base Unit No. 1 were quartered from 1941-1942 while they prepared for war. On July 3, 1941, Commodore John Wainwright ordered all naval officers and men stationed at Miami Beach to report to Fort Lauderdale for deployment aboard USS Constitution (clothing store ship). At this time there were only about 350 enlisted sailors and Marines aboard Constitution. The majority of gifts given to sailors during this time period were clothing items such as hats, coats and pants. Since no one could actually leave Constitution until after she had been decommissioned due to enemy action, many Naval Officers took advantage of her free port at Miami Beach while their ships anchored offshore. These Sailors donated everything from radios and toys to radios and books. Many Naval Officers also gave money or goods to charity events which took place ashore or in nearby towns such as Hollywood Hills or Weston Park

This maritime history begins with Commodore John Rodgers’s voyage to England in 1775 as part of Naval Forces attached to George Washington’s army during the American Revolution. The United States Navy grew out of three groups: The Continental Navy (1775-1783), The Royal Navy (1801-1844), and The United States Naval Academy (1845-1946). These organizations were formed due to various strategic concerns of their respective countries at that time. Each group had its own purpose and goals, which differed significantly from each other. However, they all shared some commonalities: They were volunteer forces that served primarily for patriotic purposes, they were smallest and most limited by resources when compared to other navies on Earth at that time, and they relied heavily on private donations for funding. In 1775 Commodore John Rodgers sailed his ship HMS Ranger into English waters as part of Naval Forces attached to George Washington's army during the American Revolution. He was followed by Admiral Samuel Graves in HMS Constitution on July 10th; Commodore Augustus Kelley in USS Dolphin on July 11th; Commodore James Lovell in USS Decatur on July 12th; Commodore Robert Woolsey in HMS Guerriere on July 13th; Captain Nicholas Gage aboard HMS Fowey from August 16th – September 3rd;Master Commandant William Prentice aboard USS Constitution from October 8th – November 15th; Master Commandant Nicholas Gage again onboard USS Decatur from December 27 until January 2nd - this act marksthe first US naval deployment outside North America since 1775! Naval Forces consisted of seamen only at this point so gifts given overboard went unclaimed. As a result, many items found adrift or lost at sea are believed to have been donated by sailors or their friends back home who supported American independence! Items such as cannonsballs found off Long Island Sound may date back to this era! A few examples include an anchor chain used by Rear Admiral James Lovell while commanding forces off Hampton Roads during operations against Norfolk Neck September 28, 1781 which was later presented to him by local resident Mary Anna Hull along with a letter signed “Anchor Chain From Hampton Roads" In 1814 Commander Matthew Perry sent cargo ashore disguised as goods he had purchased from Spanish traders off Key West Florida including wine barrels filled with fresh human blood thereby spreading awareness about disease among pirates raising money for charity! Many items donated by U S Marine Corps members also find their way into navy hands through donation drives conducted throughout our country

During most of its history Coral Gables has been one ofMiami’s most vibrant communities with many businesses, restaurants and nightlife options open late into the night; some still do so today! Some notable landmarks include: The Palm Beach Post Office (1893), Coconut Grove Golf Course (1915), Biltmore Hotel (1930), American Airlines Headquarters (1963), Newmark & Marshall Real Estate Company Building (1974). Many streets in Downtown Coral Gable date back to this period such as Main Street(1920) or Park Avenue(1930). Additionally, many pre-war homes still stand including: Driggs House(1911), Beasley House(1922), Tudor Place(1945) or Stillman Place(1950). In recent years much activity has taken place around South Pointe Marina which fronts Interstate 95 across from downtown. This includes new development including multiple high-end condo complexes with amazing views ofSouth Pointe Marina while also providing access to several park areas such as Dolphin Stadium/Fiesta Park/Marina Stadium/Lemon Grove Park etc., providing plenty of activities for all ages!
