The first roast was made from beans grown on the farm by the founders. Coral Springs is a city in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 27,711 at the 2010 census. The city is named after the coral reefs that dot the Gulf of Mexico coast. It is one of South Florida's largest cities and has a rich history dating back to its incorporation as a town on November 14, 1892. The area now known as Coral Springs was first inhabited by Native Americans who hunted and gathered seafood from the sea. On December 13, 1836, Captain John Smith discoveredering off the coast of Florida while exploring Spanish Florida heard about an Indian town called "Coral Spring" on what is now known as Northwest First Street in Coral Springs. He named it Fort Jefferson because he thought it might be defended by coral reefs in case of attack from Spanish America. In 1862, Dade County was founded and Fort Jefferson became its capital; Coral Springs followed suit two years later when it become part of Dade County. In 1875, Coral Springs established itself as an incorporated municipality with a population of 464 people. By 1899 there were 10 businesses operating in downtown Coral Springs with a total value of $4 million! The early 20th century saw significant growth for Coral Springs with construction projects such as the Miami Beach Expressway (1948), Sunshine Skyway (1952), and Sunrise Boulevard (1964). One result was increased traffic congestion which led to some real estate developers starting to build shopping malls around downtown Coral Spring in order to generate more revenue while avoiding any negative public relations aspects that may come along with too much congestion or car dependency

When the first Europeans arrived in Florida, they found a rich and natural land. The area that is now Coral Springs was inhabited by the Timucua tribe of Native Americans for many years. The Spanish colonists who arrived in Florida in 1565 were interested in exploring this new land and named it La Florida after King Ferdinand I of Spain. The area that is now Coral Springs was part of what is now Pensacola County until 1821 when it was annexed by Jacksonville. As Jacksonville grew, so did its need for workers to build roads, bridges and other infrastructure. This led to the development of Coral Springs as an agricultural center with mangroves being grown for lumber and shipbuilding purposes. In 1903, the city of Jacksonville annexed parts of Pensacola County which included Coral Springs. Coral Springs has been home to several political families over the years including those from Stonington who represented West Palm Beach on the State House from 1915-1932 and 1948-1976; Gaines who served as Mayor from 1954-1965 and1973-1981; Boggs who had two terms as Director of Community Affairs from 1978-1981; Rubio who served three terms as Governor before becoming Senator in 2006;[1] Thirteenth Amendment Congressman Tom Rooney (R) since 2003[2]; current Mayor Ron Littlefield (D). In recent history, Coral Springs has seen growth due to its location within commuting distance of several major metropolitan areas including Tampa Bay, Orlando, Miami Beach, Fort Myers Beach and Naples.[3][4][5] Additionally, its close proximity to US Highway 1 has made it an attractive place to live and work. It also offers a wide variety of cultural attractions such as museums, theaters and restaurants catering to a wide variety of interests.
