In 1907, when WPB became part of Miami-Dade County, Coral Gables was annexed by Miami and became part of that county's new South Side neighborhood. AMERICAN AIRLINES began serving Coral Gables on February 15th 1946 with its first Boeing 727-232 providing daily service between MIA and Ft Lauderdale International Airport (FLL). This was followed by PALM BEACH LANDING on December 11th 1958 when American Airlines moved its corporate headquarters from Fort Lauderdale to this newly developed community north of downtown Miami
