The United States Air Force has been deploying gift history in Crestview, Florida for over 20 years. The AFB's Gift History program is designed to commemorate the USAF's institutional and individual relationships with its citizens. The program provides a unique opportunity to share USAF stories and culture with local residents and visitors. The United States Air Force Gift History Program was established at Randolph-Macon AFB, Ohio on September 3, 1982. It was headquartered at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio until October 1, 1993 when it moved to First Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth L. Pohlman's new Headquarters Building located at 420 SW Military Trail Suite A in downtown Crestview. The purpose of the Gift History Program is "to commemorate the USAF's institutional and individual relationships with its citizens." Each month an air force installation or Wing hosts a different event that features unique activities that are open to the public. These events include reunions of veteran groups, military appreciation days/evening programs,4th of July fireworks displays and more! In addition to hosting these events annually, each installation also sponsors an annual military appreciation day/evening program which honors our service members from throughout the Americas who have made sacrifices during their time in uniform! This weeklong event features guest speakers from various branches of service as well as refreshments for all attenders! In honor of Veteran Day this year we will be featuring remarks from General James Mattis who served as Commander US Southern Command during Operation Neptune's Spear which swept through Afghanistan in 2001!

Crestview began to form as a small settlement on November 3, 1907 when the first post office in that area opened. By 1912 it had grown sufficiently to be incorporated as a city and by 1916 it had reached its present size. The city is named afterArthur Wesleyan crestview (1873), an American businessman and civic leader who served as Mayor of Miami from 1924 to 1928 and Mayor of Fort Lauderdale from 1935 to 1941. Crestview's economy has been based in education and health services, particularly recreation, tourism, transportation and professional services. The largest employer in town is the Miami Herald Publishing Company which employs over 1,000 people across several locations including newsrooms and production studios outside of downtownMiami; as well as administrative offices and our marketing department within our main newspaper building on Roosevelt Road near Northwest Eighth Street.. One current development project that is planned for Crestview is SEPTA's new Station 20th Avenue Extension which would add two stations - one near University Drive/I-75 south of I-95 south of airport runway 33L/27R & one just east of SW 6th St./US 26 - making it possible for more riders statewide to reach their destinations without traveling through downtown Miami or elsewhere in Broward County. In recent years Crestview has also seen growth in dancehall music with clubs like "The Jungle" opening up along NW 10th Ave., "Shogun" becoming popular on NW 15TH Ave., "Mighty Force" continuing operations under new ownership offSW 17th Ave., etc.; helped by increased FM radio advertising rates brought about by both Clear Channel Communications Incorporated (formerly US Radio Corporation) headquartered nearby CenturyLink Field(which now houses the EverBank Arena)and AEG Presents Corp.(formerly Venue Management Group) whose headquarters are located adjacent to SW 8th St./NEC Center exit 12B/GW Freeway

Crestview is a small town in Polk County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,000 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Tampa-St Petersburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Crestview were people from Georgia who came to this area in 1836. They built a cabin on the site of present-day Crestview High School. In 1838, John Pemberton founded Pemberton's Store and Post Office in Crestview and became its first postmaster. In 1839, Gouverneur Morris bought land around what is now Crestview Cemetery for $1,000. He started to cultivate crops there and named his farm "CrestVIEW." In 1840, he donated land to the Methodist Church for a churchyard. The first services were held there on November 5th of that year. In 1845, James Hogg bought 640 acres (248 hectares) north of modern-day Crestview from Gopher Morris for $5 per acre ($100 per hectare). This area formed what is now known as "Hogg Heights." Hogg also built a large plantation house on it which still stands today - called "Kingston Manor" - and manured it with pigs until 1865 when he sold it to Charles Aiken Jr.. Aiken later developed it into an all-purpose agricultural center with numerous commercial enterprises including two cotton textile mills and one sugarcane plantation before becoming US Senator from Florida from 1907 to 1912 (and then again from 1928 to 1933). From 1922 through 1961, he was also Speaker of the House of Representatives from Florida's 4th District . In 1926–1927 – during Franklin D Roosevelt's presidential term – Hogg opened the world's largest tomato cannery at Cedar Key while serving as president pro tempore in the United States Senate; this facility continues production today as Jardine horticulture LLC., one of America’s leading tomato producers
