The Coast Guard has been in operation in Crestview, Florida since 1912. Today, the Coast Guard provides law enforcement, civil defense and maritime security services to the community. The agency is also responsible for guarding important maritime interests in the region. In 1912, the Coast Guard was established as a part of the Department of Public Safety in Tampa. At that time, it was known as the Volunteer Fire Service. In 1916, the Coast Guard acquired its first vessel- a tugboat named "Pioneer". The next year, it purchased another tugboat and renamed it "Hercules". In 1927, Congress passed an act entitled "An Act to improve and expand the coast guard service" which created the present day Coast Guard. At that time, there were only 12 vessels assigned to patrolmen on various areas along Florida's Gulf coast. The following year saw more purchases made by the Coast Guard- this time with three vessels total: a motor torpedo boat called "Eagle", a destroyer called "Majestic" and a tanker called "President Roosevelt". As tensions mounted between Great Britain and Germany during World War II, responsibility for coastal defences shifted from Tampa to Miami Beach. This move helped free up resources needed for war efforts in northeast Florida including Crestview. When hostilities ended in 1945, both coasts had similar levels of staffing; however, due to increasing threats from pirates and drugs trafficking off Florida's coastline (the latter especially), assets were increased rapidly throughout 1946-1947 including two new destroyers: USS General George Washington (DDG-8) and USS John F Kennedy (CVN-79). After years of growth within our agency - prompted by ever growing responsibilities associated with environmental monitoring/sustenance operations along coastal populations; search & rescue operations when weather conditions make rescues difficult or impossible; protection against smuggling events at sea; providing education opportunities through special training sessions ashore & online courses; as well as response times improving significantly due to advances technology – last modified 1st Quarter 2009 we announced plans to acquire 5 additional vessels! As you can see these acquisitions have resulted not only in an increase in our operational capability but also an enhancement of our customer base which includes emergency responders statewide who utilize our vessel services during their missions..

Crestview is a small town in Duval County, Florida, United States. It was the original home of the Crestview School District. The population was 1,381 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1892 by Methodists and Baptists who were looking for a place to settle after moving from Jacksonville. The first school was built on what is now Crestview Boulevard. In 1907, the school district was organized into nine schools and Crestview became its own municipality. In 1925, Crestview voted to become an independent city and it remained an unincorporated community until 1959 when it became a part of Duval County. On May 3, 1962, it accepted annexation by Tampa as part of that city's "inner harbor". On November 6 of that year, the City Council voted to change its name to "CrestVIEW" in honor of local developer Clarence Bostwick Jr.'s donation of $1 million for the construction of a new municipal building and park complex on State Road 57 which would include baseball diamonds, tennis courts and other amenities for residents and tourists alike. On December 12th 1975 Hurricane Floyd made landfall near Clearwater Beach in Hillsborough County with winds over 130 mph (215 km/h). As per hurricane insurance regulations at that time, all homes within two miles (3 kilometers)of any coastline were ordered evacuated without warning or opportunity for homeowners to leave their properties. Many people chose not to leave because they had no idea what would happen next; most likely they would have been looted or worse if they had tried to leave during active hurricane season. Estimates place around 50% of homes within 2 miles (3 kilometers)of any coastline lost their roofs or windows either completely or in significant parts due to storm damage while approximately another 75-80% suffered some form of damage including many trees falling out onto roofs which caused extensive damage given how close these structures are set up). Approximately one third (~800 dwellings) in this area sustained losses totaling $1 million+. Some members of the community banded together early on September 25th 2001 when they learned about Hurricane Wilma's potential impacts landfalling just north of their town limits near Lakeland Airport; this effort led ultimately to recovery efforts following Wilma's devastating onslaught two days later on September 27th 2001 which killed more than 100 people across six states along its path- making it one fatalities count among hurricanes since records began back in 1900! Since becoming an incorporated city CrestVIEW has experienced numerous additions such as recreation facilities such as a marina with boat rentals available as well as several high school sports teams addition including softball and boys soccer both being feeder programs into Hillsborough County Community College where students can attend various courses leading up to graduation? Crestview grew up around a small military post which served as a base for the Seminole Wars. The post was abandoned in 1837 and most of Crestview developed around it during the late 19th century.
